with a potato masher......i usually use my moms......vintage late 1950s cutco potato masher. she started collecting cutco pieces when she was in her teens for her "hope chest."

This post made me smile....thinking about my mother. She always called them "whipped potatoes", yet she always used her very old and well used potato masher, with a lot of butter and a little cream. I'm the opposite - I call them mashed potatoes, but I use my electric beater for just a minute or so. LOL!

I will eat ANY kind of potato.....as long as it is cooked...

I like them whipped, but especially like the mashed potato casserole with cream cheese whipped in. They are so easy to just make ahead and reheat.

I have regularly only had whipped potatoes since I was 15. I only had gravy at my grandmother's.
Most potatos were cooked with the green beans. I don't think we had baked potatoes. I was a child of the 1950's.
