I bought a Fire tablet when it was the TSV before Christmas sometime.  My ipad was old and all I ever used it for was playing solitaire, so I bought the Fire to replace it.  I find that it works great.  I take it on trips, but I can use my iphone for email, so I seldom use it for anything other than playing solitaire.  I use my laptop for any time I need to type.
