Need for Kindle adapter? Want to buy Paperwhite

I own an Apple adapter for my iPod Touch. It plugs into the wall with a removable USB cable. Since the Paperwhite comes with a USB cable but no wall plug, can I attach the Paperwhite cable to the Apple wall plug? I've been reading a lot on the differences on ereaders here and learned so much. I want an ereader for reading only with the public library as my main source of obtaining books. It seems the Kindle Paperwhite fits the bill. I like the feel of the back of the Nook but you have to obtain the library book through a computer which I don't want. I don't recall my question answered only that the Paperwhite has no wall adapter and can be purchased for $20.00. Will an Amazon purchase provide an advantage than buying from BestBuy or other venues? Don't they all sell for $119.00? I don't really buy much from Amazon. Thanks do much for any additional info that I may not have thought of.
