Re: What do you consider middle age now?

For most people it's between 40 and 60. Ask a 20yo and they'll tell you 40. Then ask a 80yo and they might say 60. It's relative.

Re: What do you consider middle age now?

this is encouraging......via census.gov

What percentage of the US population lives to be 90?

4.7 percent

Because of increases in life expectancy at older ages, people 90 and older now comprise 4.7 percent of the older population (age 65 and older), as compared with only 2.8 percent in 1980. By 2050, this share is likely to reach 10 percent.

People start acting middle aged in their 30s in my experience.

50 to 70. I don't see anyone as a senior until they enter their 70's, even though Medicare says 65. All of my kids are in their 40's, and I still view them as young. Of course I'm seeing them through eyes that are nearing age 80. 😉

I'd say 45ish. Some people are living to be older but I know many that have passed away too.

[ Edited ]

When I was in my early 30s, my allergist referred to me as middle aged and I was upset.

Logically, middle age is 40 to 45 but it really doesn't matter as far as I can see.

Re: What do you consider middle age now?

I think 40 was established years ago, but people are living much longer, and stay younger looking now, so I'd say 50.
