Your story reminded me of a very similar incident from my youth. I was also watching TV, and mindlessly holding a metal glass over my mouth and chin, with suction. I would put it on, and my girlfriend would pull on it till she could break the suction. My mom came into the room and noticed the result, and when I looked in the mirror to see, my chin was covered with black, blue and red marks. I guess I had broken the blood vessels in my chin, but thank goodness, it didn't affect my lips. The next morning the discoloration was still there. I was embarrassed to have anyone see me that way, and I asked if I could stay home from school, but they made me go.
Oh my goodness, LOL, how awful (but very funny too). Your parents sound just like mine. They would have made me go to school like that too, definitely.
I think I had my mishap during the summer though, so I was lucky.
