You don't want zinc in your nose. That causes the sense of smell to vanish and it can be permanent. For instance, Zicam nasal swabs no longer contain zinc because of that reason. @EatWell

Aha!  So that's why they don't have zinc in them anymore!  I've been wondering about that.

Thanks!👍

I have heard/seen and read the following. This was from several doctors that have researched studies in relation to zinc and it's benefits concerning flu, and possibly the ***** virus.

Most of them agree, from the results of these studies, that between 40-50mg of zinc does help ward off, or decrease the effects of colds/ flu and the ***** virus.

Do your own research as I am just repeating what I have seen/read and heard from some medical specialists in that field.

I bought some Equate (Walmart's brand) cherry-flavored zinc lozenges....they were out of everything else that had zinc in the name....less than two dollars so bought two. Tastes okay,,,I could not handle the taste of Zicam I had tried before. My allergies are terrible right now....first tree pollen and now ragweed. Doubt the zinc will help with that.

When I heard of the loss of taste and smell from zinc in the zicam we stopped using. I have wondered if they stopped using the zinc but never checked!

There's no zinc in the nasal swabs only.  Zicam lozenges still contain zinc.

Parke Davis Throat Discs were the best.

They were discontinued years ago, but they sure worked.

@shoesnbags  Oh I am glad to know that and now know that I can get those if I need them! I only used the swabs and they really did work as they said!

Re: zinc lozenges

[ Edited ]

Wanted to update my other post in this thread. I decided to add zinc to my supplementation of Vitamin D3. Ordered 300 of the Chelated Zinc 50mg tablets. That is their recommended dose of Zinc per day. Currently take 2000IU of Vitamin D3, twice a day.

Have heard from the "experts" I follow that these are 2 very important ways, not to prevent,  the ******* Virus, but to lessen it's affects if contracted, and also to treat those that have tested positive. What I take of both of these are their recommendations, not mine.

Throwing this out there to anyone that cares to read it.
