Went to my Doctor for a rotator cuff pain.  He did x-rays,  and gave me a shot.  He said if it

doesn't get better I will need an MRI,  I pointed out to him that I have a pacemaker..(He was looking straight at it in the x-ray)  he said "oh yeah"  then no MRI,   he says guess I have to live with the pain......I am thinking there MUST be some other test to see how to proceed to find out if it's a torn rotator cuff and what to do about it....

My sister had a pacemaker and she got an MRI. They shut the pacemaker off and lower the MRI machine and did the test. After it was over they immediately turn her maker back on. There was a lot of people on hand, the preparation was long but we got the MRI.  Good luck with your rotator cuff, I hope the shot works.

@mishka14,

Two of my best friends from work had rotator cuff issues.   Both started with PT; after several months, it was evident one needed surgery.   She had the procedure, healed, did PT again, and is doing very well now, no pain whatsoever.   PT was successful and helpful for my second friend, but she still has to be very careful, and knows she may eventually need surgery.

I tore mine last yr. Do not rely on DRs ,they only want to operate!  GOOGLE it!   It will heal on it's own.........

Please get yourself a product called "STOP PAIN"   available on Amazon and us it as often as needed. I might have over dosed on Tylonal if I didn't!

keep rubbing it on anytime you need it as long as you need it.  6 to 8 weeks  It saved my life.If I ever had to take  Tylenol to help me...... I would have over dosed.

Mine healed on it's own.no surgery and it will if you only try it

I googled it     and found it takes a long while to heal  and it does, but i feel better  that I did NOT have surgery!.

Right now my  (adult)  DS is going through the same........he wants a MRI....noone

wants to go my ,"no need for doctor" way....lol  But I swear by it and it worked for me...............lol

Drs want to operate all the time. MY DS relented to go  to a rehab my niece works in and exercise it......even thoug he is in agony from tne rehab...........at least he chose that...

.....but my opinion and it worked perfectly for me is ,rest,be careful of it,and use STOP PAIN and in 6 weeks (maybe more)  you will be so glad you did!  Smiley Happy

I tore my Right Rotator Cuff twice. I did not want Steriod  shots because of what my 2 Orthopedic Doctor friends told me about them. The one Doctor is  Specialist in repairing: Shoulders/Hips and Knees. He said Physical Therapy was my best and safest route. He played in my Adult Hockey League.

PT is not just for healing, it also is something a wise person continues after they recover. Not with the same frequency or intensity, but any joint injury is seldom "cured". A person still uses their arms, thus their shoulder muscles and joints daily. Re-injury is not uncommon, as I can attest.

My 2 Right Rotator Cuff Injuries were mostly from my 30+ years of lifting heavy reels of telephone and switchboard wires, and the sports in which I chose as my hobbies. I continued the strength and flexibility exercises long after the injuries themselves, in fact I still work out all my shoulder muscles at least twice every week, flexibility and strength.

Too many have the perception that once their Physical Therapy Session end, they feel heeled, that's it. Wrong, be it the spine/shoulder/elbow wrist and on and on. I do not have a Pacemaker so don't have personal experience, with er than having many an MRI/CAT/Nuclear, and other types of scans.

The "Ugh" at the end tells me?  Do what your doctor suggests. What I have said above are my own experiences and from being around many athletes for decades, some of whom have said: "On No Physical Therapy", both my doctor friends can also attest to that from their patients recoveries, some do, some don't. Results are pretty consistent with their recovery efforts.

I had  a MRI of my right shoulder with contrast dye  and was told I have some kind of  bad tear in the ligament....after being told the horrors of recuperation after surgery I decided to live with it. Already had  two knees replaced and two hips.....No more surgery for this girl!👌

I've also just learned to live with mine.  I have rotator cuff tears on both sides.  Sure, I have pain somewhat frequently but if I'm careful it's not all that bad.

This happened due to a bad car accident decades ago.   For a while I was getting the cortisone shots but one of the problems with that is that they lose efficacy after a while so that ended long ago.

I've learned, in my life anyway, that I can get used to pretty much anything so it's just been another thing for me.  Smiley Happy

I hope you find relief and are able to go on from this.  Lots of us know how you feel, so you're not alone. Smiley Happy
