I tore my Right Rotator Cuff twice. I did not want Steriod shots because of what my 2 Orthopedic Doctor friends told me about them. The one Doctor is Specialist in repairing: Shoulders/Hips and Knees. He said Physical Therapy was my best and safest route. He played in my Adult Hockey League.
PT is not just for healing, it also is something a wise person continues after they recover. Not with the same frequency or intensity, but any joint injury is seldom "cured". A person still uses their arms, thus their shoulder muscles and joints daily. Re-injury is not uncommon, as I can attest.
My 2 Right Rotator Cuff Injuries were mostly from my 30+ years of lifting heavy reels of telephone and switchboard wires, and the sports in which I chose as my hobbies. I continued the strength and flexibility exercises long after the injuries themselves, in fact I still work out all my shoulder muscles at least twice every week, flexibility and strength.
Too many have the perception that once their Physical Therapy Session end, they feel heeled, that's it. Wrong, be it the spine/shoulder/elbow wrist and on and on. I do not have a Pacemaker so don't have personal experience, with er than having many an MRI/CAT/Nuclear, and other types of scans.
The "Ugh" at the end tells me? Do what your doctor suggests. What I have said above are my own experiences and from being around many athletes for decades, some of whom have said: "On No Physical Therapy", both my doctor friends can also attest to that from their patients recoveries, some do, some don't. Results are pretty consistent with their recovery efforts.
