$1000 a month and paying that kind of $$$ to see an Orthopod, and then paying for your diagnosis? Hmm, and here I thought The ACA was passed to save those who signed up money? Glad to hear you will soon be eligible for a much cheaper form of Medical Insurance.

The ACA saved my Aunt's life. The insurance plan she was under covered the cost of a mamogram but not a biopsy if anything was found. That was the insurance she had through her employer. Family members sent her money for the biopsy. Fortunately her cancer was detected in the earliest stage and she recovered from treatment.
Then the cancer came back. But this time she was covered through the ACA. Her plan covered all of her treatments and prescriptions. She will remain on medication for the rest of her life. Her out of pocket expenses are affordable. Her prescription would cost $11,000 per month without her insurance. She wouldn't have been able to obtain insurance without the ACA. She would have been turned down due to a pre-exsisting condition or the price would have been more than she could pay. She would no longer be with us without the medication putting her cancer into remission.
There are many reasons why the costs of the ACA are higher than they should be. But to discuss that would turn this into a political discussion. Just remember that insurance rates have always risen. The rate of the price increases was slowed by the ACA.

@EatWell wrote:for those who choose to defer medical treatment or decide to forgo taking their medication, you have a choice. You could wait and die.
And, for those who choose food over treatment or medication, you would choose to die?
Not sure where you are going with this, however it appears to be really insensitive. Those on a limited budget do have to make these choices everyday. Choosing between food and medication is not a choice to die.

@Group 5 minus 1 Geeeeeeeesh! The OP starts with a post that makes absolutely no sense and then has to completely clarify it. It is a sensitive and controversial topic for so many. They don't want to give their opinion, but want to get others going. Then they never come back, not once to even check in. Something's not right, I'll certainly keep away from this poster.
@WindingRoad, excellent idea and I will be joining you. This is the latest example of "something's not right" but certainly not the only one.

Ignore it @Group 5 minus 1 . You're entitled to your opinions just like everyone else.
