I went to the eye doctor complaining that things look wavy and sometimes double to me. He said I have a condition of the lens where the lenses are wavy like antique glass that is causing this. I had never heard of this but he said it isn't all that uncommon. The solution is the same surgery as a cataract - they have to remove the lens and replace it with an artifical one. So I guess that is in my future. Bummer! Esp. since I don't even have cataracts.

I totally agree - I would get a second opiinion - could be something medical instead of your eyes.

What are you all basing your opinions on? What reason do you have to not believe this doctor? He said he could see the wavy lens when he looked into my eye.

@151949, Didn't he provide a specific name for the condition? Did you see an ophthalmologist?

Please get a second opinion from a retina specialist who deals with macular degeneration. The sooner, the better. No time to waste.

No - if he mentioned the name I didn't catch it. he described it in detail though.

Just because this is a symptom of ARMD does not mean it can't also be a symptom of something else as well. I have no reason to think this doctor would lie about what he saw when he examined my eyes.

I think the reason people are suggesting the possibility of macular degeneration is that if you google that topic, wavy vision is one of the possible symptoms of that condition. I'd be getting a second opinion.
