I had a knee replacement and followed it up with 6 weeks of physical therapy. The therapist I went to is one of the best around and had me doing really well in about 4 weeks. Well, I noticed that she always had on a black plastic type bracelet and I asked her about it. She told me that she has a lot of pain in her hands and since she's been wearing the bracelet (recommended to her by another P.T.) the pain is gone. She replaces it about every 3 months - she swears by it. In addition to being an excellent P.T., she's very open to alternative methods and one of the things she did each time I was there she did Integrative Manual Therapy. Well, I went on line to look for one that would deal with pain, as I have some minor arthritis in my other knee also. I was amazed at how many I found. I ordered one made of hematite magnetic beads which is supposed to work for arthritic pain and balance. I find that since the TKR my sense of balance is a bit "off" too. I have a friend whose husband wears one for a skin condition, and he says that he has not had any problems with it since he started wearing it.
I always thought these things were hokey, but now I'm not so sure. These are real people that I know and respect.
Any input from anyone?
