@Shelbelle.  We have a radiological lab advertising that treatment  but it sounds a lot like Cortisone injections; doesn't always work and effects are temporary.

That does not sound like what my doc described to me at all, nothing like cortisone. Has a 60 to 90% success rate with a good possibility of reducing pain up to 100% relief and results last around 2 years.

Biofreeze is helpful but I also like Voltaren a little better. Recommended by Ortho Dr.

@Estellee. I agree, I vastly prefer Voltaren.  8 use a disposable rubber glove to apply it so I don't absorb more than needed.   It lasts about 2 hours then gradually wears off.

@Kachina624 Thank you, that's a good idea to use a glove.

Voltaren is toxic to cats, so keep that in mind.

Personally, I like unscented Aspercreme, either in a roll-on or spray, because I don't want to smell like an old person.  Woman LOL  It has lidocaine and really makes a difference.

I've also used the creme version as a nighttime hand lotion, and the next day, I have no pain in my hands for several hours.

For me I tried al lthe OTC roll ons and creams with menthol, arnica, magnesium, capsicum,  etc, have a ton of them in my closet, but Voltaren is the only one that actually provides more than just 5 minutes of relief. Even tried Nakery's pain relief.  Mega difference in Voltaren and any of the others.

I've been diagnosed as having Osteoarthritis, and the 3 rooster shots and even the cortisone one didn't help.  But I don't need a knee replacement.

I was told I had a botched up job when I fell and had emergency surgery on my hip, the ball wasn't put exactly right, and this was in 2022, I still feel some pain sometimes in my groin, and that could be why the knees hurt, I limp. I haven't been the same since.  But at my age, I won't have the surgery done over again, no way.  I still don't need any assistance with walking, but I won't walk outside alone, that I am scared of falling.

Curbs are hard for me. Any steps without a railing is hard. But I am thankful for not being worse, I could be a lot worse. I am not in pain all the time. Standing is hard.  BioFreeze at least I can feel it helping a little, but not Volteren, not a bit.

Low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) has nothing to do with injections.

Just found a big bottle of this at CVS marked 70% off. Going to try it.
