At 54! You ever heard the song: " You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet"?

My best years were in my '50's. While I am doing close to "great" once again, saying that does exclude the "aches & pains" you mention.

Have had "aches & pains" all of my adult life. Those however had nothing to do with ages. I chose contact sports and other injury laden activities, so at 81, I am pretty accustomed to "aches & pains".

Sounds like your mind is in the right place where it belongs. Good for you, and stay well now.

Many people are terrified of growing old.

I personally am offended by the term "senior."  I am not graduating high school, I am old.  Older. Not Young. So what?  I am not ashamed of being old.  I am not senile enough yet to think I am not old. So don't treat me like I don't know!

If you can't accept the fact that you are old, older, elderly, aged, then you are going to spend your last years unhappily chewing on that fact rather than thinking about the day God has given you and what you might do with it!

To us, isn't it still just another chronological number?

@hckynut Ah your 50's?  You are going to get out on that ice and start sailing along and think that this is your best day ever!  Woman Wink

Earlier this month a woman of 101 was interviewed after voting.

Her first vote was for FDR.

When asked what she attituted to her longevity, her answer:

"(with a laugh)  I guess I've just been unlucky!"

She was a funny, charming lady, but to be honest, there might be a slight bit of truth to this.

My dad is 100.  His mind is still as sharp as it ever was, but his body is becoming uncooperative and he needs care.  And now, because of the pandemic, he hasn't left his house and he's bored with everything.   More than once he has asked me:  "Why am I still here?"

I'd like to live a long time, but there must come a point when you're bored with it all and want to move on.

It’s a gift to wake up everyday.

I am still wondering why they’re called the golden years. I’m not yet 60 but I feel old — can’t imagine what I’ll feel like if I live into my 70s or 80s. Guess I should have taken better care of myself in my younger years.
