elliptical not working

I have an proform elliptical tha I bought 14 months ago. I loved it. But yesterday when I went to use it the console did not light up and said FF on it. I could not get my Ipod to work and my IFit card wouldn't work and could not change my resisance levels. None of the buttons would work. I called proform today and they said it needs a new console. Since the parts have only a 90 day warranty I have to pay for it. It costs $218. Has anybody else have had their console go on them. How long do they usually last? I told them I will call back tomorrow. I just hate to pay that much its almost half of what the machine cost. But I did love the machine when it was working. any opinions!
