You soooo do not get it!!! It reveals what kind of a person you must be!
Hopefully, if you someday need support, someone is there for you ......

My brother is staying with me for awhile to get his life in order. I'm pretty sure he is an alcoholic, because he can't seem to stop and gets upset with me because I don't like him drinking. He drinks either a bottle of wine, or two large size beers a night. He says there is nothing wrong with it and thinks It would do me good to start drinking! I think because it is my house and I don't want him to drink he should respect my feelings. Am I wrong? Do you have an opinion? TIAIt's your way or the highway...
Exactly. If the OP "doesn't like his drinking" he needs to not drink or hit the road. Period. Nobody should be uncomfortable in their own house. ABSOLUTELY you have a right to make the rules in your home. Someone else doesn't have to like or agree with the rules, they just have to play by them in YOUR home.

To my dismay , he came home without getting the shot but had some programs to go to that are supposed to help him manage his drinking . it has been 2 days and he hasn't had anything to drink.
Is your brother the source of this information? I think he is playing you. Why? because you are allowing him to, on every level, in every way.
Please look for an al-anon meeting today. I think you need a reality check.

Don't know what the medication is called though. Might be worth looking into.

A lot of people are talking about helping family, but does that include being angry, uncomfortable and perhaps even afraid in your own home? What do some of you say about this and where do people draw the line?
And personally, I think it is nice that we can come here, be unknown on a personal level, and have conversations with others and share experiences. I doubt if anyone makes up their minds or lives their lives according to the QVC bulletin boards, but if gives us other experiences to think about.
