Just to clarify, if anyone can -

I am eligible for Medicare but only have Part A right now because I'm still working full time. I have always known I can do COBRA if I need to for a month or so until Parts B and etc kick in when I retire, but I had no idea there was COBRA for dental as well. I have Delta Dental through my employer. When I retire, is my Delta Dental coverage eligible for COBRA? Because if so, yippee!

Yes, moonchilde. They sent me the paperwork last week. Better late than never, lol. I've already called and they said I could do everything online which I did.

I am where you are! I sit and cry, because I can't afford the cost of dental care. My last visit was a nightmare. I've paid thousands of  dollars,to have it fall apart. My dentist told me that there's really no use ,unless I have many implants. My dental share 5,000 each. Really, I am at wits end. I am 63 and I see no end, to the pain and endless cost. There is lots of us out there. My sister has the same problem. I brush, floss do all I can. My dentist pretty much gave up since I don't have 20,000. Imagine that. I pray you come up with good answer. I will just have to ride it out,and hope for a miracle.  Hang in there. God bless!

Since this May I too have had tons of work done and expense, and my teeth are looked at every six months and I am told are healthy.  I feel like I need to start a tooth fund for future dental work, like people save for college, etc.  I told my dentist I have entered the tooth twilight zone and I want out.  As of this Thursday, it seems that I am done with all the issues, however I don't trust my teeth now and feel that any twinge is going to be another crack and expense, I don't know if I will ever feel the same about them as I have lost my trust in my own teeth.

Well, I posted a message yesterday that didn't show up. I mentioned that this Saturday my tooth that is going to have a new bridge attached to it is hurting like heck. I have the bridge in now with temporary cement....been in for three weeks now.
Woke up Saturday in intense pain. I have some Vicodin here from last year's knee pain so I started taking half dose of that . It helped. We went out that night and I couldn't get home fast enough because the pain had come back with more intensity. Took a whole dose of med, went to bed.

Woke of Sunday with a jaw the size of a plum or peach. Felt terrible, too. This morning, I'm going to call the dentist for an emergency appt cause I can't wait til the 29th, my appt date. Seems to me he should have known that I probably needed a root canal. Oh, and because I just retired and am confused, I don't have drug insurance yet but it will start in August. I'm sure I'm going to need an antibiotic and will have to pay out of pocket.

No problem, moonchilde.  I went to the dentist today on an emergency basis and they already had my updated information. The only problem was that I was right....another root canal, lol. I have to take an antibiotic for 8 days to get rid of the infection first.  The good part of the problem is that the root canal is only costing me $183 so that insurance is well worth it at an annual price of $268.  Well that's what it is currently.  And I see other dental services in my future this year.

Well, here I go again. My front tooth, broke and fell apart. It will be a week to get in to a dentist. I am so stressed. My heart goes out ,to all those, that suffer everyday with dental problems. Sometimes I think,it's not gonna matter anyway. In the end,I'll have no teeth and they will have my money.

I understand your feelings, Stila.  I think that sometimes as well.  You spend a bunch of money and you still end up with false teeth.

Well, at least there is a solution - dentures. Certainly not the worst thing that can happen in the over all scope of things. I have had chemo in the past and I feel that is probably  contributing to my bad teeth.

I have a dentist appointment tues. and last night I was dreaming about needing dental work done.
