Took Zpack 5 days for a sinus infection. Did not have any issues but some nausea. On the third day after the meds were finished I started with watery diarrhea and had no idea what it was from maybe a virus bug. By the third day of diarrhea I made a call to the doctor and he confirmed it was a side effect from Zpack and it can happen a week or so after meds are done. So I have been on Imodium and finally feeling normal again...What a horrible few days and could not even leave the house and a have a good nite... UGH... Any one ever had this effect from meds...

Yes. They are pretty much the typical side effects.
Feel better!

I get a yeast infection from z pks.thank God I am pretty healthy (at 80) and do not get sick often
I hope you are feeling much better now.
It used to be so much easier and better (imo) ,we went to the Dr. He diagnosed whatever it was and prescribed a cure, now they just dispence a z pk and think it cures everything.

Unfortunately, the gastro side effects are quite common for antibiotics. Some doctors recommend that to replace the "good bacteria" that antibiotics might kill in addition to killing the infection, patients should take a probiotic and/or eat yogurt containing cultures. My experience, however, has been that Imodium goes a long way to help.

@hondagirl You probably need some probiotics. Those antibiotics
kill good and bad bacteria in the intestines so you are most likely out of sync.

I have been on the Zpak a few times with absolutely no side effects. Every

Those side effects are the reason that I cannot use a Zpack. Regular antibiotics are okay on my stomach, but the extreme diarrhea was too much for me.

I eat yogurt every day for breakfast and usually lunch. I don't ever get that reaction from antibiotics since I've been eating the yogurt, although I don't take antibiotics very often either. I had a Z-pack last September, and it was fine.

Zpk is the one I can actually take with no side effects. Everything else makes me vomit, lol.

I take a probiotic all of the time now, but I definitely make sure to take one when I need to take an antibiotic.
