I recommend Pilates DVDs over Yoga. If she is new to Yoga, she should be in a class so the instructor can show her proper technique and breathing. A novice can easily get injured doing Yoga incorrectly.

Pilates for Inflexible People is an awesome set of DVDs that she can grow into.

A puppy. She can take it for a walk twice a day. As the dog gets bigger, she will have built up her stamina and should be able to keep pace with the dog.

Walking shoes, socks, tops or hoodie to wear with yoga pants.

Aroma rice cooker and food steamer. She can cook brown rice, fish or chicken and veggies and make great nutritious meals.

HonnyBrown, do you know if this can be picked up at a brick and mortar. Target /Walmart seem to be order only. If not are there any others that you'd recommend?

Here are some ideas (you didn't say how much you wanted to spend, how old she is, and whether her goals revolve around better health or losing weight)-

sessions with a personal trainer (this will get her started on a program she can follow on her own)

a consultation with a nutritionist or registered dietitian

GC to her nearest health food store or Whole Foods/Wegmans

a good sports bra and padded socks

if she is overweight, she might use a GC to Weight Watchers

a set of resistance bands or hand weights

a set of adjustable kettlebells

a food scale

containers for packing lunches/portion control (I like these from Lock & Lock)-K39578

Lock & Lock 12-Piece Mini Bowl Multi-Color Storage Set - K39578

if she has ample space in her living space, these weighted hula hoops are fun-

weighted hula and arm hoops

a digital scale

a new bathing suit (if there is a place she can swim laps)

GC to iTunes, so she can make a motivational exercise mix

a jump rope

a BOSU ball

Agree!!! I had Petty Officers who used Zumba DVDs during their extended lunch hour to do their PT (physical training). Zumba is one terrific workout!!!!!!

Do you have a recommendation on which Zumba DVD ?
