Got great news today. Saw my doc for a follow up on my recent blood work and my A1C is 5.6!!! I have type 2
The standard NOW is 6.5 or less. We talked about those TV ads telling people to get it down to 7.1 and he has a real problem with that. I've also lost weight which is my intention and plan to keep on. He was very pleased with that as well. I am a HAPPY CAMPER!

That's great news and I am happy for you. Throw in your weight loss, and I'd say things in your health department are going pretty danged well.
Just got back from seeing my Heart Doc. Nothing positive during that visit. Going to have another Echocardiogram next week to see if my Ejection Fraction(EF) numbers have gone up. If not, I will still be considered with Congestive Heart Failure(CHF).

If you are a Type 2 diabetic that is wonderful news @Love my grandkids . Type 1 diabetics on insulin the trend is 7.0 and even in an older adult, the risk of severe hypoglycemia can outweigh the benefits of a lower A1C. Insulin shock can accompany strict control. Just last week, it nearly happened to me trying to get into the 5's again.

Every doctor on the planet would have a problem with a commercial that says an A1C of 7.1 isnt a problem. . 6.5 and higher indicates that you HAVE diabetes. 5.7 to 6.5 is prediabetes. Congrats for getting your's down.

Not true! Type 1 diabetics anything under 7 is deemed acceptable.
