Re: What’s in Your Hospital Bag?

@Desert Lily I am glad she has not had a second stroke. I hope she can make a full recovery. I am glad you are able to give your brother support.

Best wishes for your full recovery.  Beware of using free hospital wifi which is definitely a security risk.

I'm not very tech savvy at all.  What kinds of security risks does using your devices in other WiFi settings pose?  Nowadays, credit card information and everything else is on your phone and iPad.  Can they hack into it this way?  Thanks

I would not come in with all my electronics. I mean it's a hospital not a hotel. There are outlets in the rooms so charging them would work. I would not wear or bring any jewelry, nail polish or money, or credit cards. I would just bring comfortable clothes to put on at discharge and bare necessities. I guess it depends what you're having done and how long you'll be in for.

@SaveTheTurtles  - Jewelry, money, CC's - absolutely not. I have kidney cancer and will have my right kidney removed next month. My stay should only be a couple of days. I'll probably sleep a lot the first night after surgery, but the following day I'm sure I'll want my iPad to pass the time.

Those of us dealing with unwanted facial hair (dang it , grumble, grumble... ) , would NOT forget a little motorized trimmer and a mirror.  Best wishes for a good out come and speedy recovery!

Re: What’s in Your Hospital Bag?

I wanted to post an update on my SIL's stroke. The small part of the clot no long shows on a CT scan. She's on a blood thinner, a blood pressure med, & was moved to the physical therapy section of the hospital late yesterday. Her vision is affected, her speech & recognition of words to objects is affected, & she has weakness/paralysis on the right side.

However, PT will sit her in a chair today & will have an aggressive PT plan. I'm so very grateful for your prayers & thankful for her future recovery progress.

Re: What’s in Your Hospital Bag?

Our DIL was out on maternity leave last fall and just returned back to work right around Christmastime.  I didn't know that she transferred hospital locations (still in the same network).   She now works at the hospital where I'll be a patient. If I'm lucky, she'll be on duty. She's already told me to take the pain meds and not to be tough.  I've also been warned to not do too much too soon. She said I can bring anything I want, including my own food.  There's a fridge and microwave on the floor and the staff will help with getting what I ask for.  I've been working on my list, trying to be as minimal as possible but covering the necessities.
