For me it's arthritis pain, mostly left shoulder and right ankle. Sometimes hands and knees.Random thoughts, thinking about stuff i need to do, my husband's snoring, having to let my dog out. Usually around 0300 I get up, eat pop tarts with my dog, take Tylenol. Can usually go to sleep after that but then it's hard to get up.

It's a nightly routine.

What are your nightly issues?

@smoochy

If you haven't already done so, try the 8-hour time-release Tylenol, which may be better for nighttime.

(I have both Rheumatoid and Osteo Arthritis, and I've tried EVERYTHING.  I'm also a fan of topical creams and roll-ons with lidocaine.  The lidocaine allows me to take less pain meds.)

Re: What keeps you awake at night?

Different things on different nights!  Some nights its back pain or other pain issues.  Some nights it's digestive issues.  Some nights - and quite a few nights -- I can't quiet my mind because I think about health issues of my DH and other family issues and problems.  I read before bed to try and take my mind off of things - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt!  It seems the older I get, the less I sleep I get and the worse the quality of my sleep is.

Some pain issues..and listening for my wandering DH .I "nap" all night and jump at every sound.

I slept better when I had little kids.

Re: What keeps you awake at night?

Most of the time simply waking up in the middle of the night, using the bathroom then not being able to go back to sleep.  I try but I start thinking of things and it's so hard to fall back to sleep.
