I don't think it's the case where a doctor treats someone like a child. I think it's the patient's perception (family baggage?) that the doctor (authority figure) is going to discipline/yell at the patient.
In HR, I see this parent/child thing all the time. People perceive the company as their parent and expect the parent to take care of them, loan them money, etc. And then when the parent/company makes a business decision that is not in the best interest of the employee/child, look out for the temper tantrum.

The thought of doing this has never occurred to me.
As far as doctors, they are just people to me, I have never been in awe of them.

Attempting to "cheat" a blood test is cheating yourself. The numbers are about you and not a mark on a report card.. You know what you should or should not be eating or drinking.
It is like when an individual eats fried foods and such, and then orders a diet coke, as though the diet coke would justify having the meal. The diet coke is just as bad as the meal.
