@goldensrbest wrote:This virus gets as bad here in the USA,as it is in ITALY?
I think this is a very valid question, @goldensrbest. I dont know why people can't just pass on by and not leave a snarky remark if they don't like what someone else posts.
You weren't being rude.

There is a real threat that this virus will spread. That is why we need to be informed.
Yes, we need to be concerned and use common sense.
Our son is a nurse and he said that the hospital is prepared for the worse and hopes for the best.
I believe that all health facilities are prepared.

I understand your concern. We've been watching hundreds of thousands be quarantined. It's not something to take lightly. At the same time, we have to be careful about worrying too much. Take care of yourself and keep a watchful eye on what's happening.
I have a couple of friends who are immuno-compromised. They have more reason to be concerned than those who don't have underlying conditions. But they haven't stopped living. They're just being a little more careful.

@happycat I read some where that this virus came from some spices.

Wow. Well, I have heard several different theories on where it came from, but spices were not one of them.
Stunning that
1) people believe this and even more stunning that
2) people continue to spread this false panic.

@BeccaLou Reading some where isn't reliable. Do you have a source for this?
I think you are confusing the growing shortage of garlic, produced mostly by China, along with ginger and chilli seasonings.
It isn't that these items spread the virus; the shortage is caused by lack of workers in China and China's own shortage.

- Yes what about all those killed in car accidents. Where's the panic for that?
Well, I know how to best avoid car accidents and lightening strikes and a lot of other things that cause accidents.
A lot of the panic and fear is because we don't yet know how this virus really works or what the parameters for safety are. It is new, seemingly easily transmitted and can be fatal.
With the unknowns, of course a lot of people are afraid. People are either more or risk adverse, feel bullet proof or more vulnerable--we are all different.

I'm sure some health facilities are prepared, but our local hospital doesn't have many ICU beds. When my mom was having chest pain a few months ago, we had to wait quite awhile for just a regular bed to open up because so many had the flu.
Now, we have the flu still going around here and the coronavirus allegedly hasn't hit my state yet. I am not sure what will happen when it does.
I don't think we need to just go bananas over this thing, but we don't need to bury our heads in the same either.
