What happened to the fibromyalgia threads?

Am I missing one?  A search just picks up old ones.  I never paid any attention because it wasn't my issue.  Well, now it is andI'm starting from scratch.  In lieu of any recent threads, can some of you sufferers recommend an online support group?

Re: What happened to the fibromyalgia threads?

I might suggest a book called Mayo Clinic Guide to Fibromyalgia. I have a few on this subject but it is one of the better ones that are currently out there.

If you feel so inclined, you might start a new thread. Perhaps there are more out there in the same situation and would be interested in being a part of a current thread on the subject. Heart

The tepid response to this question doesn't bode well for a new discussion.  I will try the Mayo Clinic book, thanks for that.  I've never been steered wrong by listening to them.

@depglass

I think you may get more responses to this thread. I remember many here and in a couple other forums talking about this.

Don't have any personal experiences with this so can't really add anything to this.

@depglass  I have my pages set up that I have 50 responses on each page. I went back a few and found a thread about this topic if you’re still interested.

I was thinking I hope hckynut has this, then I know there will be a thread.  Not that I wanted you to be sick, I know this sounds terrible.

Would you be willing to tell me your symptoms and what kind of doctor diagnosed you? I have had issues since I had shingles and wonder if I have either fibromyalgia or post viral syndrome. Fatigue, muscle aches, poor stamina, joint pain. Need to pursue further diagnosis. Thank you.
There might be a fibromyalgia forum on daily strength dot com. There is a forum on chronic pain that I participate in.

I have had Fibromyalgia for over 25 yrs. I was diagnosed by my GP but she sent me to a rheumatologist that was an expert in the field. I saw two others and I have seen pain specialists as well. the pain specialist in my area also do a lot of sports medicine. But start with your GP and ask for a referral to a rheumatologist to begin.

Re: What happened to the fibromyalgia threads?

My symptoms:  Extreme joint and muscle pain with movement.  And then there are random pains that just hit in wierd places, mostly in my left leg.  I was diagnosed by my GP after he had me tested for MS, rheumatoid arthritis and one other thing.  He said this is a diagnosis of elimination.  I've had this for years and it just gets worse, I assumed it was worsening arthritis, which I've had since my 30's.  In my 70's now. He prescribed Flexaril which let's me get a reasonably good night's sleep, no more waking up in pain.  This is a muscle relaxer.  I was dubious, but I have a good friend who is a pharm D  (doctorate in pharmacologyj) and she explains things to me. I also have worsening dizzyness, I think from all the drugs I take for high BP, etc.

Sorry I didn't get back to you, I just assumed this is a dead topic.
