What do you know about Gout?

It looks like I might have gout. I had a sudden 'attack' of a very painful foot for about two days. I could barely stand the pain and ended up taking a pain pill. My doctor did a uric acid test and it was 'slightly' elevated. Despite all the evidence matching up, I am still dubious and possibly in denial.
