Re: Well, I'm thinking about knee replacement.

[ Edited ]

I do have an exercise I need to do that keeps dizzyness away for me.  It requires getting on my knees to do, but only for a few moments.  I have to do those exercises too, once a month. I hope I can get down long enough to do those.

I thought maybe if I did those on the bed, it might work. ?? I'll need to check on this.

What specific exercise are you doing that requires "getting on your knees"? And do them once a month? I have never heard of any pre-surgery,  or reabiliating, strengthening, or flexibilty exercises done only once a month.

And where does "dizziness" fit in with your exercises? You've sure got me confused and am pretty well versed on exercises that help stabilize the knee joint. Never had a specific knee joint problem, but was out of all 2-leg weight bearing exercises commission for 3+ months. That was from Patella Tendinitis, an inflammation of the tendons around the knee.

One group of important muscles for that purpose are the VMO group. I learned many strengthening and flexibility exercises during  2+ month rehabilitation program, even Bio-feedback. No skating/no running/no steps unless necessary. My right leg was just along for the ride.

Let me know what's up I am very interested in what you've said in this post.

You are allowed to be on bended knees, though it may be extremely uncomfortable to do so becasue of tissue that scars down around the tibial tuberosity.  Especially if a job requires being on knees for long periods of time.

Please forgive me for not quoting, but I'm uncertain of how to do so.

There is no clinical data to suggest someone should not ever kneel on their replaced knee.  Some patients may hurt like the dickens, and it may be hard to get up after doing so because of the pain or comorbidity, but there is no clinical reason.  At any rate, do what your doctor tells you, but be aware that someone else's surgeon may have completely different recommendations than yours.  They all have their preferences.

Re: Well, I'm thinking about knee replacement.

@hckynut   One has nothing to do with the other.

There's a Dr. whose exercises I use, since it seems that crystals in the inner ear, make me really sick with dizzyness if I don't do them.  The exercises are done on the floor, thus the knees are involved.  I am thinking if I do it on the bed, it won't be so hard on the knees, since I am using it to help with the sick/dizzyness.

Thanks for the explanation. Never had an inner ear problem, I don't quite get the having to do them on your bad knees, and the once a month thing. Have to see if my knee Ortho friend knows anything about these inner ear/dizziness/knee exercise thing.

Hey, if something works, that's what counts.

My ortho surgeon also advised against kneeling, which is very easy since I cannot tolerate any pressure on my knees.

I am moving this to page 1. There is a thread started by someone with no replies, yet. Thought she could read all these and it would help. Heck, maybe it's  a "he", beats me!
