Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Happy Sunday Funday, we had our 1 1/2 year old GD spend the night last night, she's a pistol.  She looks right at something and says "no no" then goes and touches it LOL...She is a mover and a shaker, never stops and isn't much for sleeping.  She was up 4 times in the night crying, no reason that we could think of but she wakes up at the drop of a pin too.   So this morning after we fed her we drove her home and we hiked for 1 1/2 hours and yes it's horribly hot here as well.  It was 94 this afternoon, 89 when we hiked.  Thank goodness for shade and a breeze and water.  We did good though, met a guy looking for his lab.  Felt bad for him. He said he tracked his collar on the internet.

I also have heard of Silver Sneakers, for some reason I think of Richard Simmons when it's mentioned.

Dr. Kelli, sorry for the ****** going on at work for you.  Sure adds to the stress level.

foxxie take the half a pound!  it all counts, and it's not a half a pound up so be happy with that!

It's still 84 outside now at almost 8 pm.  All the new shows or most start this week.  I am anxious to see where they go now since the cliff hangers last Spring.

Try and stay cool everyone!  Waving to all!

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Good morning all.  I hope your Sunday was as good as mine.  Nothing outstanding happened but it was just normal day in that my husband, my extended family, friends and myself made it through in good health.  Hope all of you did as well.

@bopper, oh yes, you had an almost toddler on your hands.  You came through it well, lol.  In six months, you're going to need your roller skates on to keep up with her.  Start rearranging the house now in prep.  Beautiful years, though.  Oh if I only knew when my kids were little what I know now, lol.

Walking, senior cardio and strength & motion classes this morning.  I do my walking first because since it's optional, I probably won't stay and do it last because it'll be 12:30 and my mind is programmed to leave at that time.  But when I go to my senior cardio class after my walk, I'm already drenched in sweat.

Enjoy your workouts everyone.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Good morning all! Fall has arrived in Colorado--it is quite chilly this morning.  I wanted to check in before I started in on the *h*tstorm I left on Friday. Hopefully, I can get things squared away and get my part done in the next two days.  I shut my door as soon as I got in so that the snotty little person that started to micromanage me on Friday gets a clue and doesn't bother me today.

I don't know if I will get to the gym today but I am going to try.  I got some of the lab results from my physical last week and my triglycerides are elevated again, so they recommended a low sugar or diabetic food plan.  I have a huge sweet tooth, so that may be hard.  If I eliminate all the sugar (which I can do), I usually go off the deep end after a week and eat 6 donuts, so I have to figure out a way that I can still have a cookie or two, which the doctor agreed with.

@bopper--I think you were the one who mentioned Richard Simmons.  I loved him and still have a few of his workouts.  I was really sorry that he closed down his workout studio and sold it and has basically become a recluse.

For the rest--I hope you all have a good day.  I'll try to check in later to read posts.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Good Morning everyone, just got back from my walk, went before it got to hot out.  One more day of heat so they say!

DrKelli I see it's chilly there, my son has 1 day off and at home with his wife and new born son and said it was in the 40's, and here we woke up at 70 at 6 am this morning!  How weird.  More normal temps for mid week though.   i just take it as it comes, as am blessed to wake up each morning!   I sure hope your work week goes better!  Yes I loved Richard Simmons too, remember ' Deal a Meal' Smiley Happy

foxxie I'm with you, my mind also is programed!  Enjoy your classes and am glad everyone is doing well in the family.   I haven't gotten to see my new grandson yet, I think I shared with everyone I have a fear of flying.  Even after his wedding I thought I conquered it but in all honesty I haven't, and it's a long 2 and a 1/2 day drive if you drive over 10 hours a day and both our sciatica's wouldn't do well with that and can't afford hotels on the way and the way back.  Then my hubby is still recovering with his Open heart ( but he's doing great) just about back to normal now.  We do see pictures though lots so that helps.

Nomless I know your feet can bother you.  I bought some Jambu shoes and they are so comfy.  Our shoe store doesn't have many varieties or colors though, I wanted red but they didn't have them but just wanted to mention how comfy they are.  Evine has that brand also.

MickD I know you got your workout in, hope your not too hot!   My boy is getting a deshedding this week so maybe that will help him from being too hot.   He won't like me though!

Lucy hope your weekend was fun and I know you had an adventure, ( you always do) and live now in another beautiful area with all the winding country roads and hills.  Check in when you can.

Waving to all our friends here!

Bopper, thanks for thinking of my feet (lol) and mentioning Jambu shoes. I'll give them a try if I see them out in retail where I can try them on.

Foxxie, you're so good about doing lots of different things. Way to go!

DrKelli, hoping you can quickly resolve the snafu at work and put it behind you.

Another Richard Simmons fan here. I have all his workouts (I think), including the multidisk Project Hope program which I think is the last one he did. I always feel happy when I do them, they're fun...other workouts don't make me happy, lol. I hope he's ok.

Workout done. Yay! 3 days in a row, my 3 days off. I think I've found my groove, lol.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Good morning all.  The heat should be gone after today.  Yeaaa.

Oh the memories of Richard Simmons.  Who doesn't have a  'Sweatin with the Oldies' exercise tape!  I'm so sorry that Richard is going through whatever he's going through.  I hope TMZ just leaves him alone.

This morning:  Body & Sculpt, Flexibility and Zumba.  It's the high energy Zumba so I might not do more than 30 minutes.  One of my long workout mornings.

Enjoy yourselves.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Good morning, all,

@nomless, I have the Project Hope set too!  I really liked doing it.  I used to do it first thing in the morning (like at 4:30) when I worked in H*** and didn't have a gym membership.

We are still cool here in Colorado, but it makes for excellent sleeping weather.  It was so dark this morning though--it is the only thing I don't like about fall.  There are a few other things I don't like about winter, but it being dark all the time probably tops the list.

Small group today--we will be down one person because one of the regulars is on a 10 day trip to Europe.

So the work issue seems to have calmed down.  Mainly because I came in yesterday ready to kick some *** and I did and I had my part done by 7:30.  I did offer to help the other person with their part, but they needed to do a lot of work before I could help them. I honestly don't know why people want to argue with me about how to do things when I have 25 years of experience with OSHA and a few years of experience with the data management website.  If they would just do it my way, we wouldn't have to do all this extra hoop jumping, which is SO annoying!

@Mmsfoxxie, I think I actually have more energy when it gets a little cooler.  I felt a lot better in yesterday's Quick Fit class than I have in awhile.

@bopper and @MickD and @ilovelucy, hope you are all okay!

Have a great day.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Yay, DrKelli, for getting things cleaned up at work. It sounds like the worst is behind you. Good wishes that the rest of the week is drama free.

It's nice to see that others have enjoyed Simmons and his workouts. I hope he knows he is not forgotten. He always made me smile. What an encouraging force he was....and still is.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

[ Edited ]

Morning everybody.  Well the little heat wave is over they say.  We've been in the mid nineties for almost a week.  I would complain more but for knowing how so many people are suffering from heat and more in Puerto Rico and maybe somewhat still in Florida and Texas.  Unbelievable in Puerto Rico, though.

Looks like everyone here is on task with what they want to do....great.  Glad everyone is fine.

Today will be my runaround day so I might forego exercising today.  I didn't get to my Zumba class yesterday.....my second class of the day was my Flexibility and about five minutes before the end of it, the fire alarms went off.  The instructor checked on it to make sure it was for real and it seemed to be.  So everybody had to evacuate.  People in the pool had to rush out, dripping wet.  Luckily it was a very warm day.  We were only out about five minutes.....someone working had triggered something.  Going back in, everyone had to walk very carefully because the floor was full of water from the swimmers rushing out.  The sirens were still blaring.  I and quite a few others just decided to call it a day.  Glad that there was no real fire, though.  Stuff happens.  It was eye opening in the parking lot to see how many people were actually in the facility, though.  It always seemed scarcely populated.

Have a great day!
