Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

I'm on my way out the door but @Laura14, I just had to respond to you now because, quite honestly, I might forget to say this in the morning.  (Yes, the memory struggle is real, 😂)......

Girl you are so paralleling me!  I worked with students with learning disabilities for 25 years and had to almost read for them.

In my vision journey, I also was able to use readers along with my contacts and I was a happy lady.  In fact, I ordered a set of eyeglass holders to wear around my neck.

Progressive glasses and bifocal contracts made me dizzy.  As a matter of fact, when I got the bifocal contacts, I had to pull over after about 20 minutes of driving because I was getting more and more nauseous.  Same problem with progressives.  Mind you though, I have a preexisting motion sickness problem.  The progressive lens glasses, I think they let trade those for something else that wasn't perfect for me.  I just accepted that these eye changes are trial and error to fix and you have to pay.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hi Everyone!  Just checking in.  It's been a crazy few days.  I've had Montague back at the vet again.

The fires are awful.  While I am fine and so is my family up near Sacramento, the smoke is so bad here in San Francisco today that looking out my boss's window, I can't see across the Bay.  We can smell the smoke in our office even tho the bulding is doing everything it can with its air circulation system to keep it out of the office, it can't get all of it.  My daughter has a friend that had to flee the fire and she said it was so bad that as they were trying to leave town, their car was melting as their were driving - the paint on the car was bubbling, side view mirrors melted, it was incredibly scary but they got out ok, however, they have lost everything.  They did get their animals out but thats it - no clothes, mementos, etc.

Hope evryone is doing ok.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hit my 10,000 steps at the supermarket last night.  I am a stepping fool!

I woke up to free shipping and I have had the Pilates Pro Chair in my saved cart forever.  It's also got a Black Friday price.  I see a lot of reviews where the springs break and/or the machine is not holding up well.

Anyone ever try this and have a good/bad experience?  Now that I have a real workout space I may take the plunge.

Happy Saturday!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  @JudyL, I was just watching a segment of the news about those wild 🔥 fires in California.  A whole town is wiped out. Unbelievable!

This Fitbit is getting on my nerves.  Not to mention a clasp being almost broken or something, since the time change, my wake up time is usually incorrect.  I was up and in the bathroom at 5 am.  Decided to wait and get my coffee at 5:30.  I just checked my app and it shows me waking up at 6:17!  My Fitbit will be two years old in January.  The Versa and Charge 3 look too advanced for me but this Charge 2 has inferior bands.  And now a piece of metal from the Fitbit is broke off in the band and came off my arm.  I was able to push the band back in but it didn’t click....the piece that would click is what’s stuck in the band.  Difficult to explain.  But what’s clear is that I don’t want to buy another one.

Getting bored with WW with their gimmicks.  Weight is on target but I’m not really following the plan and honestly, other than keep telling you to track, it’s all about the emotional, mental side of eating, not the plan.

Zumba this morning!  Enjoy your day!

@Mmsfoxxie  My Fitbit is not the most accurate thing and I think I mentioned the screen cracked a few months ago.  Amazon actually has one (obviously knock off) under $30.  Last I saw it had a coupon with it too and good reviews.  If yours is falling apart and you don't want to spend the money, it may be worth a look.   It's by LetsFit

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hey, we woke to 6 inches of snow, so I spent 30 minutes shoveling heavy wet snow, then did 40 on the TG, then a 45 minute trail walk and that walk was hard, heavy winter boots, big coat, holding a leash and trudging through the snow, but it was pretty.   Got a few things at Meijers today but not much.

I have my Christmas tree up, it's not big and we like it.

My fitbit is the Charge 2, the first one had was the Fitbit One, but the clip broke so I had to keep putting it in my pocket, easy to lose that way too but I still have it actually.  Yesterday I had 315 active minutes and 21,000 steps, i was a mover yesterday.  Today 15,000.  I'm trying to  up my game so we'll see how I do.  I think I'll throw out the stupid scale, and have NSV ( non scale victories) instead.

Good hallmark movie starting in a few, love that channel.

Enjoy your night everyone!   I haven't bought anything on free shipping.

The Pilates Pro chair is on Facebook market place here.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Hey, quiet here I expected to see someone posting since mine yesterday.  Oh well, I am taking a rest day, did some decorating and cleaning, arranging.  I have too much stuff, need to purge, I like what I have but when I clean out a room it looks better without the things I like if that makes sense.  Just more uncluttered.

Well the Lions just got beat, so now I'll watch the Packers.   Hallmark movie tonight is new too so I want to watch that.

It's cold here in the 20's and already looking dark, what a long winter we are in for...yawn....me and the bears  Hahaha

Enjoy your day!    Thank you to all our Veterans for their service!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

I spent this weekend running around and building furniture again.  I've been on repeat for a month now.  My mother is back and will be completely redoing upstairs and I am still pulling together my down.  If anyone needs a furniture mover, builder, lugger, etc. my skills are on point!

Also found out this weekend that my sisters from my mom's second marriage are coming for Thanksgiving.  Haven't seen them in forever.  Bought the makings of a pumpkin pie so we'll be all set in a week and half is it already?  I feel like we just did New Years a few months ago.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great weekend and a good start to the week.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Good morning everybody.  I had a nice quiet Sunday.  I did go gas my car up and grocery shopped.  I noticed that the store is highlighting the Thanksgiving and Christmas options for purchase....pumpkin purée and other pie ingredients. Croutons and the like.  I wish the price of vanilla extract would go down.  I don’t buy imitation vanilla flavor.

I’m getting the feeling that you aren’t looking forward to the sisters coming to Thanksgiving dinner, @Laura14.  This is the time of year for unwanted guests, lol.  Hopefully, it won’t be too stressful.

Senior Cardio and Strength & Motion (cardio/ weights) this morning.  Have a good day everyone.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@Mmsfoxxie  Oh I didn't mean that at all.  I honestly haven't seen them since they came for Christmas probably almost ten years ago and my sister's wife ticked me off quite well that time.  I was just fine with the break then.  It will be nice to see them and I am sure they are staying with my other sister so they will not be in my face for days straight.

As I have gotten older, I find it's just not worth the drama and I am actually looking forward to saying hi again.

And I do the same thing with vanilla.  I refuse the imitation.  I always wait for this time of year when they put it on sale and stock up!
