Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

@MickD  I know all about "scorcher" So Cal weather.  Grew up and lived in Riverside until mid-80's.  Got out of there in my 30's and never looked back.  Way too hot for me.  The one thing I do miss is the So Cal beaches.  Just can't be beat and Nor Cal beaches are just not the same.  Do love Newport Beach and Laguna.

Woke up this morning feeling incredibly fatigued and worn out but got myself going and have done some light housework.  Turned on the music and got myself dancin' around the house while dusting and mopping!  LOL  I feel better now!  Will take it easy the rest of the day.

Back to work tomorrow!  I am ready to put the last 3 weeks behind me and see my friends.  Not looking forward to what may be waitng for me to do tho!  HAHA

Have a good Sunday!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  Beautiful weekend although Saturday and Sunday were about 15 degrees different.

@Gemspirit and @JudyL, I've been blessed to not have to recover from a major surgery or illness but my husband has.  It seems that slow but steady with getting back to regular activities is key.  You ladies seem to be doing great.

@Gemspirit, yes being sedentary is a body killer.  When I retired, that was me for the first year.  My arthritis got steadily worse and I could barely walk without hurting.  I decided to join my health/fitness center and for the first two months, I was WORSE!  Part of me was thinking about quitting because after a workout, I would barely be able to lift my leg to get into my car, lol.  Even my hip, which had never given me trouble, started to hurt.  Then suddenly things started to feel better.  Now, except for my knee and foot issues flaring up sometimes, I feel so much better.

At my WW weigh in yesterday, I was down another pound....127, three pounds under my 130 goal.  Mother's Day is next week and I'm going to a brunch this Saturday so I might lose that, lol.  I'm not stressing it.

Monday's schedule is Senior Cardio for 45 minutes, then Body & Sculpt (Cardio/weights) for 45 minutes.  If I get there early, I may walk a mile.

Have a great day everyone.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

@Mmsfoxxie  Congratulations on your weight loss!

@Gemspirit  You do what you can do.  I have ditched my Fitbit for the past couple of weeks because I didn't need the stress.  Even the instructions for Fitbit say give your wrist a break every once in a while.  You'll get there.  There is nothing wrong with doing less than someone else's perceived goal.  You set your own and then move up from there.

@JudyL  Congrats on getting back to work!

@MickD  I wish I could swim with you.  That is the one workout class I really miss.

Hello to @bopper and @nomless and @DrKelli!

I did my yard work yesterday and my legs have about had it.  It was a very active weekend.  Still have to get some more bins at Walmart to complete the basement clean up and then do my actual housework which is way past due.  Smiley Sad

I also have to switch over my clothes.  I think we are going to stay in hot weather mode and no more cold snaps.  I wish we had had a Spring though.

Have a good week!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Good morning all!  Well I got 4 out of 6 things done this weekend, so I consider that a win.  Tomorrow, I head to Wyoming for a safety conference.  I'm going more out of curiosity than anything.  This particular conference has always been in Denver.  I was chairman of this organization for 6 years and Denver was easy for everyone to get to--direct flight and all.  Cheyenne--you have to fly IN to Denver and rent a car and then drive 100 miles.  I just get to drive the 100 miles.  It is a horrible drive because not only is it extremely windy, there are lots of animals that like to wander on to the highway.  I have to come back early on Thursday because I am subbing zumba.

I have been pretty good about cutting back on my sugar intake, but last night, I had one of those blue bunny loaded sundaes--570 some calories and 51 GRAMS OF SUGAR!!  That is ridiculous.  But boy are they good.

Today is Quick Fit and I plan to take a 3 mile walk after I get home and walk the dogs.  The weather is supposed to be extremely warm today, above 80.  We didn't get much of a spring either.  Last night was the first night of open windows for the season--I love that.

Speaking of Fitbits--I have had 3.  They quit working after a couple months and I realized that I would obsess over getting my steps in, so I had to just quit wearing it.  I know how much I move and I am capable of getting up when I've been sitting too long.

Hope you all have a great day!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Good Monday morning and it's my Birthday!!  Happy Birthday to me!!!   Now I wish I had someone to go to lunch and shopping with and get a pedicure!  You all want to join me  Smiley Happy

We did tons of yard work yesterday, cutting limbs and raking, just a little snow in my ditch but the main stuff is gone, but my trail is still to icy and muddy to go on, I did manage to cut through the woods though and get to parts that were just leaves.

Hubby and I are going to dinner tonight, it's sunny and 50 right now.  Last night my son and little 2 year old joined us for dinner, we cooked on the grill and he brought his bike and trailer and pulled her around the neighborhood on the bike, I joined them on my bike. She's so adorable.  She sent me a video this morning singing HB to me, pretty priceless.

I agree on the Fitbit too, I wear mine all the time but have thought about giving it a break as sometimes I think it's a stresser.  My goal is always 10,000 steps, yesterday I had 13,000 and have reached goal most days but it is something I think you can obsess on.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Hope @bopper is waking up without a hangover but good for you if you're not!  Smiley Very Happy

So we are back to a third world gym.  Walked into the room and we have buckets catching water.  It's not raining and hasn't for about a week.

Adonis is back and aggravating me again.  Luckily, a girl squeezed her way in between us so I only had to endure his couple of struts.  They were all ignored.

Nudie was late but came up off the streets with her black lace.  The teacher was impressed.  Those of us in class not so much.

The instructor thought it was fascinating the young kids at the front desk had no idea who Salt and Pepa were.  This from the woman who last week didn't know Fleetwood Mac.  Irony is rampant here!

I did well in Pound but kind of struggled thorugh Power.  The new release she picked wasn't horrible.  Usually when I struggle I'm tired or getting a touch of ill but I think I am just still processing stress.  I am going to plan a vacation today since I have a lot of time left that I need to use up by the end of August.  Need to go away and unwind for good this time.  Maybe a beach since I haven't been down the shore in forever.

Have a great Tuesday all!
