Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Hi, all. Happy Wednesday.

Sorry many of you are dealing with snow and ice again. Here, we got a wee bit of snow, but not enough to affect traffic.  Tomorrow, it will be back in the 60's, I think.

Today was my day off, and I have been a lump reading all day. I love my days off.😊

Lucy, glad you didn't get injured when you fell off the box.

Foxxie, I hope you don't have to do any more shoveling this season. You were smart to cancell your appt.

Bopper, yep, shortage of checkers is frustrating. Here, stores seem to be trying to be better about having enough checkers on hand. With so much online competition, they really need to provide good customer service.

Right now, I have a cat crawling all over me, telling me it's time for dinner. The other one is sitting here looking at at me. I don't know now they tell time, but they do. Better go feed th3m....maybe he'll stop walking on me. LOL.

Morning everyone!  I have a doctor's appt today for more testing.  This is a lot....so much information, tests, different meds, etc.  It's overwhelming trying to learn it all.  I have two drugs I'm going to ask her about today that seem like they could be better options than the monthly shot..less side-effects.  I'm in a couple of MCAD groups on FB so they're teaching me so much about the disease and treatments...they can't believe how bad I have it...and that I am just getting diagnosed now after all these years of dealing with it.  I woke up at 3 with hives again....hadn't been feeling well lately so figured it was coming...you learn the signs like my ears and face flushing, which is a daily occurrence for me now..but my knee was burning, alternate between super tired and wired, and my joints are really aching.

Did a good full-body strength work-out yesterday using my power-tower, Bosu, Pilates(didn't fall off Smiley Tongue ), weights and bars, and soft kettle-bell...did the rower....then followed it all up with a yoga routine out of my new book.  Got my bedsheets and upstairs cleaned as well, made a couple of appointments, did some paperwork, so it was nice having a day at home for a change...been a while.

Heading out in a bit, waiting to hear back from my gf.  Mmsfoxxie, she flew out of O'Hare super early Monday morning(they went to see Hamilton)...the day all the flights were cancelled. I've flown in and out of O'Hare quite often myself...it's a big place.

My dil flies to Italy on Friday for a week for business.  If I was already being treated and felt better I would have gone with her...but can't risk it like this, get over there and have a huge flare...no thank-you.  DS has finals next week so it kind of worked out good, he has a ton of studying to do and can use the alone time.

Oh wow...I didn't realize it was so late!!  Have a great day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Good morning, Group.  That's a bumper when you've had ailments/symptoms for years and just getting a diagnosis.  Then you worry that you get the right medication with the least site effects.  These two medications that you're going to ask about @Iluvlucy, are they drugs that the doctor recommended or you found through research?  Someone said to me or I read once, "there is a reason that they call it a PRACTICE".  They are practicing on each of us that comes before them since no two people are alike.  I'm hope you get recovery soon.

Oh, your gf got out of OHare just before the snow hit!  I'd love to have the opportunity to see Hamilton.  I hear they are sold out for months ahead.

Hi, everybody, hope everyone is well.  When I was working (school environment),  atervtge national anthem was said, the person leading it over the p.a. system outdated say "make it a great day, or not.  The choice is yours".  I'm saying it to you today because it's such a positive start for us.  It's all about how we handles the problems.  (I admit to not always handling things positively, lol).

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

2.5 mi/33 min on the treadmill

@Iluvlucy I am not yet done with the grout....took a week off.  I have the foyer, downstairs bath and DH's office.....then will tackle the 3 baths upstairs....those aren't bad and can wait....thanks for asking!  I hope your hives have abated!

Happy Thursday everyone!  DS passed his written driver's test so we're taking him out to dinner tonight.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Hey all, it's a sunny day here and for the first time almost no wind.   Tomorrow it all changes but such is living here in the North Country.

I did an hour on the Pilates and just received my Bodyblade and that is a cool device, my heart rate got up and I did all the exercises pretty well.  I only watched the 1 dvd and did the exercises on that..  Took a trail walk also, and it was very icy and I almost wiped out.  Logan had a vet appt. today also for his shots and nail trim.  He's Mr. tough guy but has to sit on the bench with his mom and the other dogs waiting are sitting on the floor by their owners.  He's 28 pounds, 2 pounds more than last time.  He needs a good grooming soon too but I hate to do it when it's going to be sloppy melty out.

MickD your going to be the grout specialist!  Congrats on your so passing the drivers test.  Lookout drivers!  Haha

foxxie I loved that your PA person said that because it is the absolute truth!  Its your choice, either decide its going to be a good day or it isn't.

Lucy I hope your dr. appt. went okay today.  Lots to absorb and take in, your mind must be spinning and lots of research too.  I'm glad you have some FB groups to help you also.  DIL will have a wonderful time in Italy I'm sure and DS can get some studying done and some rest.

Laura hi and waving

Nomless its okay to be a lump sometimes, we all need days like that.  I hope your Friday goes well tomorrow and then the weekend begins.

Better get dinner started, have a great evening everyone!

Happy St. Patty's Day!  It's finally a fairly decent day here, no cancellations or delays, 50-mph winds, ice, sleet, etc....first day all week!  We're 21* and supposed to get in the 40's today so I'm hitting the white trails this morning before it melts.

I power-walked with my gf that went to Hamilton yesterday morning Mssfoxxie, she said they really enjoyed it.  We tried going to it in NYC over Christmas but we waited too long so couldn't get tickets.

My doctor appt turned into an ordeal...ugh.  Couldn't figure out the tests(actually the lab to send it to so they can send it to Mayo) the specialist ordered but after 45 minutes, they got it figured out. Only one lab here has a contract with Mayo Clinic.

DH had his Traumatic Brain Injury(two cocussions from bombs going off by his head) appt yesterday morning.  They want an MRI of his head now.  This(his retirement) is turning into such a big ordeal.  Monday he goes to have 40 to 50 vials of blood drawn!  That's a lot!

I'm going to Barre this morning and will do weights before-hand..or after, depending upon how long my trail-run is.  There's a 9 Pilates class that would be more convenient but I'd rather do Barre...better leg and bootie work-out. That Pilates studio called me yesterday and invited me to their open-house even though they know I'm moving to PA.  They said they'd help me find a studio up there.  That was really nice of them since they know they're not getting any money for me.

Okay nomless, bopper, Mick D(congrats to DS!), Mssfoxxie, and anyone else readying..have a great day!!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Good morning to you all.  Let's get this day started!

@Iluvlucy, I think/hope that you exercising helps the stress that has to be going on what with all of this stuff happening to you and yours.  My hat off to you for handling things so well.

Having a traumatic brain injury is no joke!  And I know how difficult it can be dealing with retirement involving an illness if I'm understanding your post correctly.  My sister got very ill a couple of years ago and was too young to retire so they put her on disability.  I can't even remember all of the details but to make a long story short, they cut her off financially for months and now she lives with her daughter after losing her house.  She worked for the federal government and was the sister that made big bucks.  Life is not always predictable.

I'll probably do my cardio class today.  Not sure about walking.  Be blessed.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Morning, Happy St. Patricks Day to you all, bitter sweet for myself and my hubby.  Lost mom 20 years ago today, and my FIL 19 years ago today, not a day goes by I don't miss her and our daily phone calls.

The sunrise is beautiful this morning, I hear it won't last though as snow/sleet/and freezing rain is moving in.

I'm going to do my Pilates reformer this morning, maybe treadmill too, not sure.  Just having my coffee now and watching the News, will do Bodyblade later too.  I caught on pretty fast I must say and really feel it working all over.

Lucy so much comprehend, I hope DH's appointment goes alright and yes that's a lot of blood!   Mayo's is a great place, hopefully all gets figured out and a plan put in motion.  Have fun at class.

foxxie have fun in your cardioi class and if you take a walk today.

Nomless it's Friday, enjoy your upcoming weekend!

Waving to all!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Happy Friday to all.

Lucy, my heart goes out to you and DH for all you're dealing with. It boggles my mind that you both do such difficult and long workouts despite all the physical stuff you have to deal with. Glad you're finally getting some answers.

Bopper, hugs to you as you remember loved ones. I'm like you....Miss Mod and Dad daily and wish I could call and talk to them.  Better yet, go see them. Sigh. It helps to remember that I miss them because I had such a good relationship with them. Many kids aren't so fortunate.

Hi Foxxie and Mick. Enjoy your day.

I did errands this morning. Discovered a brow product that was my fave and seemed to be discontinued it back. Yay. I bought two. Also found a book I wanted at Half Price books and they even honored my 40% off coupon even though I didn't have it with me. It was a mail coupon to customers, so I guess the fact I mentioned it proved to them that I had it. I appreciated that. Book ended up costing me only $3....$6 less than Amazon even. Can't beat that.

So work this afternoon. Ugh. My foot with the callus is doing better, but the other foot is bothering me now.  After a shift, the bones in the top of my foot hurt. I put a compression bandage on it last evening, that helped. Today, I'll see if wearing an arch support works. My library diet seems to have run it's course....no weight loss for the past 3 weeks or so, but I haven't gained anything back,  I'll take it!

Happy Saturday!  Snow is really melting here, huge difference between yesterday morning and today.  It was still quite icy in places yesterday, I slipped once and my gf(same one that took the big fall) did the slip-n-slide shuffle a couple of times but she tends to step right on it...lol.  DS was getting more snow last night as he drove home from work around 8..some places in PA got over a foot last week and supposed to get more.  I got a text from my dil at 2 a.m. that she landed safely in Italy.  I'd like to know she made it into her hotel room safely!

nomless...darn, I was hoping your foot issues had abated.  That Library Diet had a good run though...lol!

bopper...sorry for that bad memory being on a holiday.  Not that it's any easier on any day, but you always relate it to that.  Like nomless said, I always try and think how fortunate I am that I was so close to my parents...I also see plenty of the other.  We have a Body-blade too, dh got it brand new at a garage sale for $2.  We don't use it...well, sometimes while balancing on the Bosu.

Mssfoxxie...did you get in any walking?  No, DH isn't "sick", he's retiring from the military so that's a lot different than retiring from a civilian company.  So many appointments, classes, boxes to check, etc.  During his physical they found his concussions so he had to see a TBI specialist, now he's sending him for an MRI...all of this plays into disability so as bothersome as it is, it does help you in the long run for retirement.  DH is Special Ops and the TBI doctor told him they're seeing a lot in his community with TBI because of them being around bombs going off so much, similar to the NFL players and their concussions...that's pretty scary!  Their bodies really take a beating and DH has been doing this for over 30 years, longer than most.

MickD...what's your weather like out there?  I think you live close to where we did at one time if I remember correctly.

Meeting friends for dinner tonight at a nice restaurant...it's another Farm-to-Table place but more upscale than the others.  Him and his wife own and run Boulder Crest Retreat...wonderful place dedicated to Wounded Warriors.  They do some great things if anyone is looking for a good charity organization.

I didn't go to class yesterday, too nice out...so I got in 8 miles(4 by myself and 4 with my gf) and did weights along with my pilates machine...probably more than if I would have gone to a class or two so no guilt here.  I'm sore, that's always a good thing!

Not sure what we're doing today...I don't like this time change at all, I prefer it lighter in the mornings.  It's almost 7 and pitch black out...I'm an early riser so feel like it takes forever for the sun to come up.
