Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Hi, Bopper, it sounds like you had a nice, relaxing Sunday. Good job walking and doing yoga today! Agreed, it's cool to see how strong the women are. Very impressive.

Hi, Patty, it's good to hear that Lucy is having a lovely day. LOL. Your morning on the beach sounds great to me, too!

I was interested in a CrossFit promo I saw yesterday showing the seniors (some looked 80+) with the voice-over "be the best you can be." Hmmm. I wonder if they really can accommodate those with special circumstances/limitations. There are at least 3 CrossFit gyms in my area. If I'm ever able to quit my job so that I'm free during the day, I might look into it and see what the Master's program offers.

Til then, I'll keep doing what I'm doing. Cardio today, most likely.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Yes, nomless, they can and they do. DH and I are planning on joining again and we both have injuries we have to work around. He's had surgery on both shoulders and his knee, and broke his back parachuting....so obviously he has to be careful. I have 2 bad shoulders, lower back issues, bad injury where I tore my hamstring off my butt bone, etc. Remember in FL I hurt my shoulder and my back during CF, but I pushed it too far with my shoulder. The back kind of came out of nowhere.

Dh just talked to the PT about it yesterday. It's all about using proper form and not pushing something too much if it hurts...just have to be smart. But you can get injured lifting on your own at the gym...I see people swinging weights all the time that are too heavy for them.

And they have night classes...we have plenty of friends that work and do CF. Also usually have a 5 a.m. class if you want to go before work. DH plans on going before work...at least a couple of days a week. They have a CF gym at his compound.

Good info...

http://www.coachcalorie.com/how-to-boost-your-metabolism/

Oh man, I could have had a good, long run today. I ran to the gym and it took everything I had to stop there. I felt soooo good! This stupid foot is really throwing a wrench in my running!!{#emotions_dlg.glare}{#emotions_dlg.mad}

Even running home after doing legs while channeling Rich Froning, I had a good clip going and didn't want to stop...lol!

Lifting tomorrow morning with my gf and Friday morning I'm supposed to walk with another gf on the beach but not sure I'll be able to with my foot. That girl moves and doesn't have any other speed other than f-a-s-t.

Anyhoo, going to take advantage of these 75* temps and take Lucy walking again. It's a beautiful day!!

Also wanted to mention that there is another program called 9Rounds that you might be interested in too.

Similar principal but not as intense...incorporates boxing and kickboxing in the rounds. Not sure if your city/area has one. But some people were talking about it at PT and told my dh that they really like it.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

If I recall...one reason some people really like it is, it's very convenient if you work...work-outs are 30 minutes but they said they get a better work-out than when they were doing 60 minutes and I'm pretty sure they said you can go whenever you want...you just start on the clock and do the rounds they have set up.

And these are some pretty in-shape guys too...they've done CF and just wanted a change plus the convenience. But if something hurts, you can modify or go at your own pace while you do that round.

I love kickboxing and boxing so it's appealing to me as well.Wink

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Hey all, grocery day today and a hair appointment...came home and did Yoga and TG...

Nomless did you watch ANW? When are the women on?

Quite humid here but it's not hot at all, only in the 60's so I don't mind the temperature at all as I know many are experiencing way hot weather.

Pppmint glad your having a nice day..but that foot! Take care of it...may have to rein in your GF {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

FUTURE hope your week is going good and you can get your walks in with your pups or your spin class.

Tony waving to you.

My dad picked a 5 quart pail of blueberries in 2 hours..that's good pickin!

Have a great day everyone!

Another good article...

http://www.coachcalorie.com/much-cardio-lose-weight/

bopper, the girls and the guys go together...they aren't separate. There just weren't any that qualified for that region last night. At the end of the show, they showed next weeks preview and there is a woman in that one.
