Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Our power is back on...yay! Hard to ice dh's shoulder without ice...lol!

His shoulder was bad, turned into quite the surgery. His Flap Tear was bigger than it showed on the MRI as was the Rotator Cuff tear. The RC tear could be stitched up but the Flap-Tear was quite the procedure...had to peel bicep muscle off bone, cut it, reattach it with stitches and two anchors...arthritis was really bad from an old injury(parachuting) so he had to remove part of his clavicle. More incisions than surgeon originally planned on but he couldn't do it any other way. Recovery...not good but we knew it wouldn't be, he doesn't tolerate narcotics well at all. Going to be a very painful recovery. It was a long day, I'd been up since 2:30...and then was up last night at 1, 2, 3, 4, and finally got up at 5.

Did 3 miles today, Jacob's ladder and a heavy and hard leg work-out...went from set to set with my only breaks being air-squats...started at 180 for first two sets, then up to 205 for last 2 sets on leg-raise, 130 on leg-press and calves, 80 lbs on inner and outer abductor machine, and did hamstring curls and dead-lifts and biceps in between all of those. My legs started spasm'ing...kind of scared me for a few minutes but I didn't want to be gone from dh too long so I wanted to slam them, and I did!

Also, ds's tests came back okay so for now, he can stay on the medication! That was such a relief for us, I feel like going for a run to celebrate! Lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Patty, I just came to let you know I'm still thinking about you, and I was so happy to see your post. What a relief that DS's tests came back OK and that DH surgery is over. It sounds like it was difficult surgery, but at least it's over, the extent of what he's dealing with is known, and you can all get on with recovery. Please let him know that folks here are thinking of him.

And despite all that and little sleep, you get in quite a workout. Superwoman! Go get some rest, girl.

On a lighter note, have you seen the two-faced kitty Venus? She's adorable.

Photo: For Venus! This is a tribute digital painting I did... Hope you enjoy it as much as I did painting this beautiful creature!! It was created in Sketchclub Pro app, consisting of 29,582 brush strokes and a little over 7 hours to create. :)

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Hey all, nice day here today and they said the "Polar vortex" is returning for the first part of next week!!!!!!!!! so those sweltering in the heat can come here and cool off in our instant refrigerator.

I walked a fast 4.2 miles this morning and then came in and did Upper body going as heavy as I could and doing 2 sets. I am stronger than i thought I was. I even did front shoulder raises with 24 lbs, ( 12 in each hand) and then did shoulder presses with the same weight...abs also. Used 30 pounds for back and also used the TG for back on level 6 ( 2 sets of 6 I think it was)

Took Logan to the trail for his jaunt! He is a bad boy, won't quit barking at everything...nobody is allowed to walk on our street you know, he owns it! Haha

Pppmint so glad that surgery is now behind you....long slow painful recovery it sounds like but each day shall be better than the day before....DS getting good news is awesome also...so happy that came out on the right end....wish you could get some well needed sleep too...hopefully night you all will sleep better

Nomless good job on cardio and what a cute kitty

FUTURE Did you spin yesterday?

Tony were are you?

Have a good day all!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Hi all! I'm here bopper! Have been reading posts but always interrupted. Plus we have had thunder storms all week with mini power zaps and pocket Internet. We are accustomed to it. Yes I saw race - they were jinxing Tony when they were talking about it and every time he is up front early something happens. So, I was not happy! Otherwise, all is well. Today- laundry, cleaning and baking cookies. I will do some workout later. Looks like everyone is staying on track.(We know I don't!) Hi to all of you!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Morning, the crisp weather has moved out, it's overcast and humid out....

Checking in with Lower body going as heavy as I could ( or as I own) and did squats, sumo squats, calves, inner and out thigh, abs, hams and quads...just made up my own program and did 3 sets of between 6 and 8 reps...it was good. Held a plank for 1 minute, side planks I have trouble with, I cramp up in the oblique and not in a good way..in a way that says back off! So I do...

Hoping everyone has a good Friday and a nice weekend!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Hi all! nomless, I saw him on fb yesterday...beautiful! I thought it was fake at first because the line looks so straight! Yes, huge relief...thank you! He doesn't have to go back until Aug 5th if he feels okay.

What a night...ugh. Our A/C unit isn't working...so it is either freezing, or if you turn it off, the heat comes on. The lady came up and can't figure it out...it's completely shut off and heat is still blowing out. You can't adjust he A/C either, if you try to make it a little less frigid, the heat comes on again, even though you have the A/C on! They're sending someone later.

Then Lucy was sick and she threw up...I stepped in it. Got dressed to take her to ER vet but she was better after she threw up. So between her and the A/C, another night without much sleep at all. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

bopper, I keep thinking I'm on my phone...was going to give you a fist-bump but they don't have it on here...so pretend!

Hi tony, good to see you!!!

Dh wanted to walk this morning so we did. They said for him to pretty much stay down for at least 48 hours, but he said he was going stir-crazy. I'd be the same way so I totally understand, he knows his body.

I did a good upper-body work-out today going from exercise to exercise without a break(felt strong even if I wasn't...lol) and mixed up some miles...one of them was taking Lucy for a run on the beach and we got chased and kicked off by the lifeguard. Guess they can only be on a certain portion of the beach and we weren't on it. He was really nice about it though.

My legs are sore, really just my quads and calves, but I'll take it...I can feel my hams too...especially doing the stairs at the beach. My foot is still hurting so that's irritating. Think I'll go back to the ladder or ARC tomorrow then take Sunday off.

Waving to everyone!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Hi, everyone, TFIG, eh? Whew! I'm sure glad it's Friday.

Hi, Bopper, the cool weather didn't last long for you, did it? You did good today. Nice planking!

Hi, Tony, it's nice to see you. Have a good weekend.

Future, you, too! You often have fun plans on weekends.

Patty, I was surprised that DH's hospital stay was short. Lucy -- and you! -- will love having him around more as he recovers from the surgery.

I'm thinking I'll do cardio tonight....will do weights tomorrow.

Have a fun evening, everyone!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Check In

Morning!

It's humid here, windows were all steamed over again this morning. They had to give us a brand new A/C unit yesterday, couldn't fix the old one.

Dh had a rough night, couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep...hard when you can't lay down. He nodded on and off this morning so is feeling a little better and wants to go for another walk...ay.

I did 5 miles this morning but my fastest one was with Lucy, she was on fire today. Did the other 4 on the beach by myself and just kind of enjoyed the view. Only ran 1 out of the 4 but the angle is hard on my feet and my right foot was starting to hurt, I don't need 2 hurting! It's still a tougher work-out even walking in the sand and then I did the stairs to get my heart-rate up.

Just finished up core/abs, and going to walk dh and Lucy then go run errands...Wink

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}
