Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

[ Edited ]

@bopper, yay thatvyou've had warm weather, too. Isn't it wonderful?

@Iluvlucy, I think your friend would love the Nano Gym from Evine. It's solid and well constructed, and the bungee cord bands are terrific. There are three sets of bands of various resistance that can be combined to make 7 levels of resistance possible. Extra cords can be purchased from Evine or eBay. You can do a lot of gym-style exercises on it for both upp3r and lower body. Videos are on Evine and YouTube....she could watch those to see the machine in action. I think it'should well worth the cost. I have 2 of the chairs now because I wanted a spare just in case - that's how much I love it.

I hope the orthotics help you....ouch, your issues sound painful.

Hi to Foxxie and Mick. Have a good week.

Last night I watched some of the 2016 Crossfit Games. Fun. And tonight an American Ninja Warrior special is on, and All Stars competition. Yippee!

Library is closed today, but since I don't work on Mondays anymore, I miss out on the holiday, lol. Tomorrow will be a mess. It takes us several days to catch up after being closed a day.

This weekend, I started thinking about moving to a new apt because I hate my tiny kitchen. I could get something much nicer by moving to another part of town where there's new construction. But....it would cost more, it would increase my commute to work significantly, the hassle of moving is not welcome, and mostly, I have friends here and would feel lonely in a new place. So, there's lots of pros and cons to both staying where I am and moving. And some things you can't know just by looking at a new place. For example, this building is very quiet, never hear neighbor noise, it's pest-free, and maintenance staff is terrific. Such is not the case at other places if reviews are to be believed. There's lots of risk in moving elsewhere where such things can't be assessed in a quick walk through tour. Probably should stay put and put up with my lousy kitchen which I hate.

Morning everyone!

nomless...I think we're going to watch ANW also, bopper told me about it last night.  I had forgotten all about it.  Well the "holiday" doesn't do you any favors does it?  LOL!   DH kind of has off(he is always on-call so never really has "off"..has to take calls and stuff so you can never really relax)...he worked 8 hours yesterday too.

Yesterday morning dh and I did 7.5 miles.  We have a little trail runner here.  Lucy will run for miles if you're on the trails...she loves it.  She passes those bigger dogs like she's showing them how it's done...lol.

Then my gf and I did another 5 while DH worked...we hiked along the Potomac towards Great Falls.  It was so nice, never saw that many people out there before.  Went biking, rowed, Pilates, yoga...did a circuit...had another big day.  Had to up my steroids again so I have to up my game. Smiley Tongue

DH and I did 5 on foot this morning, biked and did stairs...and did my Piyo.  My gf is texting me to walk but the times aren't working out for me so not sure about that one.

We were 37* when we headed out the morning and we're almost 50* now.  It almost felt a little chilly on the bikes but we didn't have gloves on and down by the water is colder.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

Phew!  This morning, I couldn't sign on for the life of me.  This happened a couple of times last week, too.

Anyway, hello everybody.  @nomless,  my kitchen is not small but smaller than I'd like.  How many do you cook for?  When I lived alone in a condo, I had a very small but functional kitchen.  I very seldom cooked so I didn't mind it at all.  You're right, the trade offs of moving are many and some are found out about until after you move.  Sounds like you might want to stay where you are, lol.

@Iluvlucy, I had a bf once who was a Sears repairman and sometimes he would be on call after hours or on holiday.  Very frustrating.  To be honest, sometimes he didn't take the call, lol.  He didn't have the best character, one of the reasons I broke up with him.

It's been so beautiful outside that it's scary.  Scary because quite often we get either a terrible snowstorm after the weather is warm or in the spring, since there was hardly any snow or rain, we get flooding.  I'm trying not to borrow trouble and just appreciate this beautiful almost 70 degree weather.

Enjoy whatever you're doing, Ladies.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

Hi, all. Happy Tuesday.

Foxxie, it's only me I cook for. I have only 5 storage cabinets that can be used ( a couple of others are too high to be functional, no pantry, and only 6' of counter space total. The longest stretch of counter space is less than 3'. It drives me crazy. Yesterday I looked at a place that would be a great location for me and the kitchen is awesome, but it costs more than I feel I should commit to. I could end up regretting it down the road, so I'd best not jump on it. Sigh.

I thoroughly enjoyed ANW last night. Matt Iseman is such a great host for that show. He's so enthusiastic. It was a warm evening, so I had my windows open, and I could see a star in the night sky (probably Venus?), and with ANW on, it felt like spring....Hard to believe it's only February.

I had lunch with a friend yesterday, we had a great time. He's a former boss I worked for for 9 years, best boss I ever had. We still get together every couple of months, and each time I see him, I encourage him to come up with a part-time job for me, as working with him is fun. I've been telling him that for the past 6 years, lol, so not much chance of it ever happening, but you never know. He's like a brother to me, it's awesome to have such a friend in my sphere.

Another beautiful day is in store. Hope the same is true for all of you, too.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

Hey all it is a gorgeous day here, and your right it is scary, we however are expecting a snow storm on Friday into Saturday and now it's 60 out!  The road in my subdivision is all bare and it was so nice walking today, and light jacket.  I see grass in my yard, almost unheard of for us.  It's only February and we have all March to get through and somtimes April can be a bummer.  One day at a time!

Nomless I watched most of ANW too in between flipping to Kevin Can Wait, I also like Matt as a host.   When is the regular season starting I wonder.

I understand about your kitchen, it's hard when you don't have storage and space but it sounds like the building your in is secure, quiet, and convenient to work.  I have a good size kitchen but not  a lot of cubboards or storage, my living room is small and we have no dining room but I love my lot and where I am.  We'll never move from here but that's okay too.

Lucy your area is so nice and so fun to go out your door and have the trails and the river and all the exploring you have there.  You put some miles on those shoes yesterday.  I can't do the trail today, its so soft and mushy and hard to go , sinking and wet.  Logan wanted to but we found his tennis ball that appeared from the melt down so I threw that to him a few times as soggy as that was!

Foxxie waving to you, hope your day is good!  Where is Laura?

Ok, I'm going to do something outside, have to get out.

Have a great rest of your day!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

Did 2.5 mi/ 33.5 min on the treadmill.

I am busily cleaning the grout on my travertine floors.....time consuming.  I made the mistake of using Murphy's oil soap - bad, bad - for about 9 years....was only supposed to use soap and water.....my floor is looking new...it will probably take me a few weeks to complete.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

@nomless, my vote is to stay put.  Convenience and affordability are very important.  Space is too but there's peace in knowing you're staying in your budget.  I have to tell my husband that a lot because he can be impulsive at times.

@bopper, yes, I did have a great day.  In my boot camp class, the instructor did something really fun.  First, he had us line up into two group rows.  The first person in each group got a big flexibility ball (I think that's what they are called, about two feet in diameter).  We did a contest to see which group could get the ball to the end of the line and back first.  We had to bounce and catch the ball before we passed it to the next person, though.  My group won all three times.

Then we set ourselves up into two circles....one outer circle and the other group was the inner circle, facing each other.  In one group, each person had the big flexibility ball and in the other group, each person had a small ball about six inches in diameter.  The objective was for each person to roll her ball to someone in the opposite circle as quickly as possible.  When time ran out, the group having the most balls still in her area lost.

Thennnn, lol, the instructor put hula hoops on the floor to form a tic Tac toe board.  Each person got a small item to use as their 'marker'.  Two groups again.  When he blew the start whistle one in each group ran to put down her marker.  As soon as the person ran back, the next person in her group ran.  So you had to move fast but think about where to block your opponents marker.  Best two out of three.  My group lost that one.

We were out of breathe but had so much fun!  Adults acting like kids.  I was dripping with sweat and laughing my head off.

Hi to everybody else in the group.  Hope you're well.  We had a little rain last night/this morning but otherwise, the weather was beautiful yet again.  February...unbelievable!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

Foxxie, what a fun workout playing games. Cool.

Bopper, it''s nice that you're having good weather, too. Like you, it's supposed to snow here on Friday, but til then it will be warm.

Another upside to staying in this apt is I have friends here. Would be isolated in a new place. Also, the maintenance staff is very good, with problems usually fixed same day or next day. That might not be the case elsewhere. I probably won't move, but it's a fun to look around and dream.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

Hey everyone, its the last mild day here 50 now before the snow storm starts to move in.  I'm so spoiled now but the last few days but very grateful as well as it really breaks up the winter dull drums.  They are saying 12 inches of snow Friday and lake effect on Saturday.  It is February mind you!

I got groceries today and went to Walmart and got some supplements and opened one when I got home and someone had broken the seal over the top of the bottle, taken out the cotton inside that come inside bottles and there was the tablets in plain view.   Ewwwwwwwwwwwww  and disgusting!  I was so mad, I am not going back until next week.  I did call them to tell them though and she said gross too.  I'll return them next week, she said that is fine.

I saw my neighbor ( elderly )    trying to chop the ice from her mailbox and so I went out with my shovel and went down to help her and she says " I'm done"   I have it how i want it.  She's a card that one!   She was a RN in the prison when she was younger and then she worked as a nurse in the VA.   She did tell me she has coffee every afternoon at 3, (  precisely 3)  Hahaha so if I ever wanted to join her she would have it on.  She's on the go all the time, she's not bored or lonely.   She's out of this subdivision many more times than me!  ( I suppose that's not sayin much hahaha)

Foxxie sounds like a fun class, and lots of laughing.  Nothing better than that!

Nomless I agree best to stay put where you know you can get things fixed and its a good safe apartment complex.

Lucy are you having a good day!  How was your class today?

Well I am babysitting my GD tonight, was supposed to this afternoon but my son finished his route early so I don't get her until tonight, so I"ll go walk outside.  It's too nice not to be out and especially since the storm is coming Friday.

Enjoy your day!

How is everyone today?  Another beautiful day here in the midwest.  Unbelievable!  And even more unbelievable is that this is the second year!!  What is going on?  When I was working, every winter was horrible.  Getting on the expressway very early in the morning in sub zero weather.  It was not joke.

Today was not as I planned but that's ok.  I didn't get to sleep until about 2 am.  One of those nights.  so it was later than usual when I got up.  I knew that I had to go to the bank and UPS to return an HSN package.  I had had it for two weeks and I didn't want to forget to return it within the 30 day period.  The UPS store is in a strip mall near the Jewel grocery store.  So I also went in there and bought about $70 worth of groceries instead of the two items I needed.  (Isn't that what happens, lol).  I took my groceries to the car and remembered that I meant to go to the pharmacy to find out about the diabetes tour through the store.  Had to wait my turn.  After talking to the clerk, I went back to the car.  As Im driving, I decided that it was later than I wanted it to be to go to my fitness center.  So, I came home and did exercises in the kitchen while I watched my soaps.

@bopper, sounds like your neighbor is taking advantage of her age and being one of those who say what I want people.  I have to say that sometimes I play that card with younger people if I need to but to a lesser extent.  I call it nice nasty, although, I'm not quite nasty.  It's not my nature For instance, if I see a yiynger person doing something that is not wise, I might butt in and say..."now what man, you kinow that you shouldn't do that".  or, "young man, why didn't you open the door for your wife"?  When I was younger and I didn't know that person, I wouldn't have dared.  Yesterday, a young lady at the center had a Q-tip digging in her ear.  I couldn't help but say, "young lady, what are you digging in your ear with that?"  she told me she was cleaning her ears of wax.  I proceeded to to tell her how dangerous that was, etc, etc.  She just smiled and let me do a paragraph or two of talking.

Tomorrow I'm going to follow a plan.  I feel more productive that way.

I hope everyone is out of the house or has been out enjoying this beautiful weather.
