@Mmsfoxxie Yes, that is the group of CDs I bought with that circle band. I do like that band better than the others I have. I do have short arms and some days I'm stronger than others (??), so I like having several adjustment options. Likewise, I'm short, so I like the options for shortening the band - when I use it for squats, etc.
My DH needs some kind of dessert everyday, so I know what you mean. I try to resist, in fact, I try to buy chocolate often, because I won't eat it in the evening. I have trouble sleeping if I have caffeine late in the day. That way I'm not tempted, but if he brought home donuts -- yikes, I'd be allover those.
@JeanLouiseFinch I always feel if you have a friend go to the gym with you, it is the best of both worlds. I can talk myself out of exercising at home, if I have many other things on the plate (so to speak). I have learned that at 60+, I can't do 45+ minutes - days in a row. 30 minutes each day is better for me, however, the schedule doesn't always allow. Any exercise is better than nothing, so go at your own pace. It's all good.
@bopper Thanks for the welcome. I have always enjoyed exercising, but I need a variety. I try to get outside and walk often, but winter, not so much. Your temps. are not the best for walking outside and if you have snow every couple of days like we have had this season, you surely can't walk. Snowshoe or ski, that would work. I'm not a big 'activity in the snow' type of person. I froze my toes in high school and I can't be out too long at one time, without the toes throbbing.
I'm happy to pop in every so often, I enjoy meeting new folks on the threads. You all seem to have a nice group of people here, so it's been a pleasure. Will be back soon.
Enjoy any kind of exercise you choose, it does the heart good
Have a nice evening everyone.

Good morning, everyone. It's a great day to wake up and get moving! Wish I could do it this moment but at least until the days get longer and lighter, sitting up in bed, sipping my coffee, reading on my iPad and counting my blessings will do just fine. I forget what they call it when you need daylight to feel energized.
I just heard over the weekend that my fitness center has added an extra Zumba class on Tuesday mornings at 8:15. I told the instructor that I would TRY to get there but I couldn't promise. Well, lol, good thing I didn't promise. My 9:30 body sculpting class will have to do. Maybe to cloudy, too, but it's too dark to consider moving unless it a national emergency or something. Retirement has its grieved rights. The right to be lazy and spontaneous.
@bopper, I love your first of the month welcome picture. @JeanLouiseFinch, I've had an exercise buddy in the past and loved it. We exercised and did WW together. Glad that you can support your friend.
So I have body sculpting and flexibility class for sure and maybe walking last. Good enough for this 69 y.o. body. Take care everyone.

Hello, it's almost noon here, I did my bike again as my foot is a little sore and then did some with my bands. I had a busy day yesterday and babysat my youngest GD last night. I have her again today at 1, and then my son will pick her up at about 4, bring her back at 7 and we have her until 11 pm when mom comes to get her. Their work schedules are opposite of each other basically. My son is a truck driver so he's up at 2:30 am to work and he needs to get to bed by 8 pm in order to get enough shut eye to drive, and my DIL works until 10:30 pm.. My GD is turning 1 tomorrow, she's into everything and finds the tinest lint on the floor and everything is in the mouth so I can't take my eye off her. I told her a couple times yesterday "no" and she points her finger at me like she's scolding me. Guess she's heard "no" before hahaha. What a blessing my grandchildren to me though, my heart is full.
Sounds like you all have good plans in motion and do things that work for you and that's as we should As long as you move everyday in some capacity we are helping our health. I enjoy hearing about what everyone does and new programs, new equipment. It's helpful and useful information.
Since we have winter here from November to May I have to find things outside to do, my fresh air really does help me to clear my head and focus on whats really important. I have a tendancy to let my thoughts take over sometimes but if I give it to the higher power I can relax more.
You all have a wonderful day!

Hey everyone...it's February! Welcome to the new people.
Still dealing with the flare but I'm back on steroids so it's better...have to deal with being on steroids now too but I'm taking a low dose so not too bad.
Did 16.5 miles on Monday on top of a weight-circuit work-out with bike, jump-rope, rower, weights, stairs, etc. Yesterday I ran Lucy 2 miles, then walked 4 with my one gf, said good-bye to her and walked over and met my other gf for another 4. Then walked to meet dh again last night as he drove home from work so had almost 14.
Went out to lunch and some errands with my friend yesterday even though I still don't look right from the facial swelling. But we had fun...got some groceries too. It was 21* snowing yesterday morning then 56* and sunny yesterday afternoon for about an hour! We've had the craziest weather...changes minute by minute. Day before we had snow, then sun, then a blizzard for 10 minutes, then sun...I had every season just in one run!
I hope everyone is doing okay. My head's a little fuzzy yet so can't really remember what I read and who to reply to...don't want to leave anyone out. Haven't been doing FB either really other than what I see when I sign into PM's....my brain doesn't work right when I'm not myself, then throw in the political stuff...ugh...so over it.
Going to do the HIIT cd I did Saturday then probably walk with both of my gf's again. The one was in CA all last week and she said the snow was over her head....when you looked out the window at her friend's house, all you could see was snow because it's up to the roof. They've been hit hard...still doing controlled avalanches to try and beat them to the punch.
Cheers!

Hey all, it's snowy here again, finally a little sunny but almost time for the sun to go down once again. I did my treadmill and Body bar today and walked Logan on the trail, shoveled a lot and it was heavy with the plow stuff but I"m happy I am physically able to do it. I've had a lot of sad news this week and I really am feeling overwhelmed. 3 people I know in my neighborhood have passed away, 1 was very unexpected. The other 2 were expected but it's still hard to comprehend when it really happens, even though we know they are in a much better place.
I have been doing a lot of praying and trying to cast my cares, and I think it helps, at least for me it does.
Not much else here to report, I am happy to say my GD is 1 year old today! She certainly brings me smiles as does my 11 year old granddaughter.
Have a great day everyone!

I posted on the old thread, but I have no news, so you didn'the miss anything.
Welcome to the new posters! I hope we'll hear from you again. Yay for your resolve to keep moving.
Lucy, I'm sorry to hear you're still dealing with a flare up.
Bopper, I'missed sorry about your sad news.
Foxxie and Laura, hi to you as well. Sorry I can't remember what you posted. Dang this forum that doesn't let us see all posts. Very annoying.

Hi, @nomless. I feel the same way. You don't want to ignore anyone, especially if, like @Iluvlucy who is going through the hives episodes and the like.
Anyway, hi to everyone and welcome Newbies. What I like about this thread is that it is here for us to share our growth in exercising or to sent out an SOS if we need a lifting up when we get too lazy to workout. It always good to share your common goals. Just like WW does about eating for weight control. We have @Laura14 on another thread helping us with good, healthy recipes. I am definitely going to try some of them.
Yesterday my husband got the results of his blood work done on Monday. His glucose 187...way too high. Pre diabetic. A few years ago, he was in the same predicament, it scared him and he got into an exercise regiment, stopped drinking a liter of pop and day and ate mostly salads, although he would drown it in salad dressing.
Well he had surgery in August as a result of a botched bladder damaged when he had his prostate surgery the year before. He was told not to do any real exercising for 6 months. Oh, and another issue he had in that area. Well, it's been more than 6 months and if he's in the house, he's laying on the couch. Literally a couch potato. He wears the Fitbit that I bought him but, lol, it's evidently for decorative purposes only.
Well I told him he has to stop the madness and we are going to eat properly together. We've done this before and one of us backslides. But this is serious! Diabetes can lead to so many other illnesses not to mention amputations.
Enough about me and mine, what's everyone up to today?

@Mmsfoxxie, thanks for being understanding when I can't remember what you posted and therefore, can't offer a relevant comment.
It sounds like you'll be a coach and cheerleader for your DH. He's had a tough time of it with the surgery and all, but it sounds like he and you both realize the time has come to take steps to turn things around. I hope with you as coach and cheerleader, he'll start cutting out the bad stuff and start increasing good food choices. Lots of good wishes to you both.

Thanks @nomless. Hubby and I both have a problem with our drug of choice...sugar. In fact, my love of baking might have been one of the reasons he was drawn to me. Next weeks grocery list will be cleaner, that's for sure.
Oops, I just remembered...we have Valentine's Day plans with friends at a steakhouse and I can only hope my husband doesn't get the biggest steak there. He loves red meat. Hopefully he will reign himself in a bit.
What's up with everyone today? I know some of you prefer outside activities. Too cold here for that...we're in the teens today. I'm gonna do my walk at the fitness center with a strength and motion class as a chaser.
@Laura14, I disconnected my Fitbit One from my iPad. I got tired of the mixed numbers showing up. Usually my Charge 2 wasn't showing. Fitbit One is in the drawer. My Fitbit life is simpler now, lol.

Morning, it has been a crazy time here, and I have 2 funerals on Friday with an hour in between and one of them I have to travel about 25 miles to get there. It's just been a very stressful week for me. I am so blessed to have my physical strength to get me outside and walk and shovel, we take it for granted sometimes. I will use my bike today. Yesterday i had over 15,000 steps on my fitbit and I do have a sore foot so will alternate treadmill and bike. I think i really need those orthotics but haven't took the plunge.
Laura are you posting recipes on another thread that are healthy? I would love to join in there, I am always looking for healthy ways of eating. Hubby and I try to limit our red meat, he loves red meat but we eat a lot of pork and chicken and we do have our burgers grilled probably once a week. I always make a salad each night too. My hubby does go to the YMCA every morning at 6, he should lose about 25 pounds too but he has a lot of aches and it's hard for him but at least he is going.
It's only 10 here this morning, I guess I"ll finish my coffee and get on the bike.
Have a good day everyone!
