Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

@bopper  That's cute.  I'm getting back into exercising after the holidays and weeks of tax prep.  Bought the Leslie Sansone CDs from her recent show on the Q.  Did one of them last week.  It was a good tape, changing things up every other week or so, is good for me.  I don't get bored, especially, when it is 17 degrees outside.  It will be heading that direction by Tuesday and last through the week.Smiley Sad

Hope you all are exercising away, burning those calories.  Enjoy!!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

Hello to everyon!  @3suwm5, did you get the Sansone's walking DVD with the circle band?  I really enjoy that type band because you can put your feet into it to hold it in place or if you're using it and have short arms like me, you just shorten it by grabbing another circle.  It's just strange to me that her five miles take less time than when I try it at the fitness center.  Eight laps around the track is one miles.  I can't do five miles there but I can do hers.  Between you and me, I don't think it's really five miles.  Great workout, though.

I still have to get my appetite normalized to where it was before Thanksgiving.  I get myself together for a week or two, then I do myself in or this saboteur that is my husband brings something around that I try to resist and can't.  Friday, he brought half a dozen donuts home.  Then today I made more banana bread to use up the speckled bananas.  Excuses, excuses.

No workout today but I have a full schedule sent for tomorrow.

Well, I'm going to turn in try for a good nights sleep.  Hope everyone does the same.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

Good Morning!  I'm new to the excercise conversation.  I'll be leaving soon for the health club.  I have a lot of weight to lose.  My friend had hip replacement surgery over the summer and needed to do some walking as part of her physical therapy.  I went along to keep her company but it wasn't really enough to get an aerobic workout.  Then winter came and it was risky for her to walk on snow and ice so we joined the local health club a couple of weeks ago.  I've been trying to get on the treadmill three times a week for 20 mins. (will build up, but that's all I can handle right now).  We also use some of the weight machines.  I'm feeling some soreness, which I believe is good, but on treadmill days I end up with a very sore Achilles tendon.  I hate to do it, but I think I'm going to have to cut the treadmill to Mon. & Fri. in order to give that tendon a good amount of healing time in between.  It doesn't bother me when I do the bike so I can use that as an alternative.  I wish I could figure out what the deal is with the Achilles, though.  I'm wearing good shoes but wonder if something like a Vionic gym shoe would be better.

Anyone have experience with a bad Achilles tendon?

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread :)

I had experience with very painful Achilles Tendons. I had both of them removed. Haven't had any problems since and no regrets. Yes I said removed.

My doctor was an orthopedic surgeon.

Nice to meet you !    Sounds like you have a good plan going for you.   We get lots of snow here and don't usually have bare ground until May so I hear ya!   Gotta do what we gotta do!    I have no experience with Achilles so can't help you but hopefully it will feel better.   Take good care and glad to have you here!

@Group 5 minus 1 - thanks for sharing.  How long were you out of commission after surgery?  For now I hope to find alternatives, but won't rule it out in the future, if needs be.
