Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Good morning, everyone.  It's raining a little this morning but not enough to hamper the rush hour for those going to work.  I'm counting my blessings.

Senior cardio and my strength & motion class.  Maybe a little walking.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

So instead of hiking in the woods, I hiked the mall and outlet centers for three days straight.  Much more expensive but I wasn't a total deadbeat.  Tomorrow, I am back to the reality of the gym.  It was a nice me time mini vacation with self gifts.  Smiley Very Happy

Happy Monday all!

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  Here's to another day that we can try to do our best.

@Laura14, "hiked to the mall and shopping outlets", lol.  Sounds like you did a good thing to me.  You probably should do it more often.  All work and no play is never good.  If you literally 'hiked', then you got your workout in, lol.

Today is my Body & Sculpt class, Flexibility class and Zumba!  Might be only half of Zumba.

Have a nice dry day everyone.

Hi, everyone. No news here. I guess I've been spending most of my time watching TX news. I know we're all sad about that. I wonder how much of Houston is flooded. Probably not 100% of the area, right? Just wondering. Also wonder about people's jobs....how many businesses are flooded? How many will lose their jobs, as well as their homes? What if your employer is up and running, but you can't get there because you now have no home, no car, no roadways that can be navigated? Given the circumstances, would the employer keep your job and continue to pay you? What the heck do you do if you lost home, car, and job? Always have the questions during such disasters, but they're never addressed. I know after Katrina, a lot of people left the area for good because homes and jobs were scarce immediately after the disaster.

DrKelli, I remember that you will bein NOLA this week. I know It's rainy there, hope it doesn't cause problems.

Bopper, prayers that DH's appt goes well today.

Did my Power and Pound today. The teacher was too quick putting the sticks away so I have my own pair until I can return them next week.

You are so right @Mmsfoxxie. I did nothing but spend money on myself and it felt good!! Until I get the credit card bill I'm sure.

Spending my life at the doctor's as we speak. An hour late! I almost walked. Called me as I was getting my keys out. Now waiting on the doctor. And work is nuts. I am so stressed!!

I can't wait until this day is over! Hope everyone is having a better day.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

@nomless, I thought I was the only one thinking like that.  This hurricane definitely has a domino effect.  Lost of life is the worst that can happen but so is livelihood.  Can most of us imagine losing our loved ones, homes and jobs all in a matter of a few days?

Right now, it's Texas and Louisiana.  This winter or next spring, it will be another area.  I remember the winters of 2013 and 2014 here in the Chicago and suburban areas....it was terrible.  Snowfall close to 30 inches in a few days.  There was one time we felt like our house was in a cocoon. Snow plows couldn't get through.  People were stuck on expressways and had to abandon their cars.  Remember the winters in the northeast.

Global warming, climate change, call it by any name, it still is abnormal weather happening all over the world.  And some greedy people want to ignore it for financial reasons.

Anyway, everyone try to have a decent day.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Morning all!  I did a lot of walking to 80s tunes this morning and I'll probably think up something to do this afternoon.

@nomless  I went through Hurricane Andrew and even though where I was wasn't catastrophic damage like some of the communities you are seeing, it's a traumatic experience either way.  You've never been so scared and so helpless in all your life.  And no one can come and help you either.

If you ever do have an emergency make sure you have or put together one of those Suze Orman things where you have all of your important papers together so that if something like this ever happens near you, you can grab and go.

Most people assume they can just get their money from the bank to start over but without an ATM card or an ID to show the teller, it's not happening.  And it's not like you can just walk into the DMV to get a new license with a birth certificate anymore either.  Lots of things no one ever thinks about until it happens.

Okay this is depressing so I'm getting back on topic.  It's supposed to rain all day here.  I think some of the moisture being brought up by Harvey from the gulf but not the main guy himself.  I am taking my last vacation day tomorrow so maybe I'll go hiking in the woods tonight if it's not too bad.  I think the rain is supposed to let up around 5pm.  We'll see.

Enjoy your day!!

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  This was one of those woke up way too early mornings.  I'll accept it, though, lol.

Senior cardio and walking for me this morning.  No workout yesterday....grocery shopping and pedicure.

I'm gonna see if I can get a couple more winks of sleep.  Have a great day everyone.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

I am really tired today too @Mmsfoxxie. Must be something in the change of seasons.

I did manage to get my butt to the gym and did 35 minutes of biking and then my Power class.

Took my final vacation day today so I may crawl under the covers again too.  Or go shopping later and be bad again.  Smiley Wink
