Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Good evening everyone!  Made it through my dentist appt. ok.  Whew!  Always have such anxiety with that.  Came home and did the PiYo core work out.  After trying to do it again today with not much luck, I think until I'm a lot stronger, I am going to do the Turbo Jam ab workout in place of the PiYo core workout.  I find it too hard, don't think some of the moves are good for my back and I don't feel that I get a good enough work out cuz I can't do much of the exercises.  When I did TurboJam years ago I really liked the ab workout so think I'll do that one for a while and see how I do.  My back did not react well to the work out tonight and I ended up taking a muscle relaxant a little while ago.  While exercising in February I did something that caused my back to go into spasms and tighten up something awful.  Was off work for a few days, the doctor gave me muscle relaxants, etc.  Do not want to go through that again!

Hope everyone is having a good evening!

@JudyL  Don't do anything to hurt yourself!  If I learned anything these past two and half months, it's that physical activity is meant to help you not hurt you.  I completely overdid and paid dearly.  Good job being so dedicated but not at the risk of your health.

That goes for you too @nomless.  Push yourself longer and harder but within your ability.  I refuse to pass the baton on injured exercise people around here so yes I'm scolding.  Imagine my finger waving here. Smiley Wink

@PilatesLover  I hope your shoulders are better.

@bopper  I need to have what you're having.  I loved your post and your breakfast.

Rest day except I did do some of those back stretches last night.  Weird but I guess they are helpful.  Another banner night.  My sleep monitor showed a straight line with no breaks.  It's been January since I've done that.  Yay!

Since I'm still feeling okay I am planning on going for Power tomorrow morning.  I have a trip planned for Saturday through Tuesday so I'll be away from my woods and gym.  Smiley Sad  Time to take my advice and not rush back full tilt just yet.

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

There was no exercise for me this morning!  Up most of the night in so much pain because of my back.  Not as bad as it was in February but bad enough.  Ugh.  Since I don't want to lose momentum or strength, think I will do the upper body BodyGym tonight.  At least try it and see how I feel.

Hope I make it all day today at work.  I'm up and down a lot and that hurts!!  Sorry to complain, I am grateful that it isn't as bad as before but bummed that its bad enough to keep me from doing my work outs.  Now that I'm on a roll and enjoy exercising, I don't want to stop.

Hope everyone has a blessed Wednesday!

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Happy Hump Day, went grocery shopping this morning and then came home and did 10 on the bike going up every couple minutes in resistance and then slowing going back down, then did some KB swings, and abs, and ended with a nice meditation stretch.

I agree with the listening to your body and not pushing to the point of getting injured.  I have neck and back problems and can tell when I need to modify, also knees hurt a lot so I am very careful and if I can't do what the dvd is doing I just do my own modification because I know if I hurt it I won't be able to do anything for a while.

I always try and have a good breakfast, and get in a lot of movement through out the day.  It will be nice when it warms up here so I can' be outside more and actually enjoy being out.  It's still cold here and we have a yard full of snow.  We don't even get leaves on the trees until the end of May usually.

I am excited to see the new show tonight Strong about the strength and conditioning challenges and the teams and what the trainers have them doing but from what I understand the trainers also have to do them.  I just wish there wasn't so many shows on at the same time tonight, Red Wings in playoffs, Tigers, ( my team), The Middle, and The Voice and Survivor.  I have a DVR but can only record 2 shows at a time and the stupid thing is one of the once I record you have to have the TV on that channel..well whats the point of recording it then LOL

Be well everyone!

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

@JudyL  No!  I'm so sorry!  I complained for two and half months and everyone here was so nice to me even though they had every right to tell me to go be a cry baby elsewhere.  Don't apologize and complain all you want.  Back issues hurt!

I did the abdominal crunches and arms when my back was hurting me on the BG and that didn't aggravate what I had going on.  I also give big thumbs up to hot and cold patches and ice.  They are still doing the job!

I hope you feel better soon and make it through work.  Unless you're on salary then I say go home and take care of yourself.   You've earned a day of rest.  Smiley Happy

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Hi everyone! Not a stellar workout day yesterday, I tried to keep getting up and moving and stretching at work, and snuck into the conference room to do a 10 minute Barre workout. Had a cut and color after work so that ate up my exercise time.

Laura, sorry to hear about your shoulder.  The Pound class sounds fun! I will watch the show on the Body Gym shortly.

Bopper, I wrote to my CPS station to support Margaret Richard.  I have almost all of her DVDs, from the shiny spandex days through her own menopause journey. What an example of aging with strength!  She's a big part of my routine because with RA, I need a joint friendly instructor.

Nomless consistency is a good thing!

Ugh, Judy I have awful dentist anxiety. For my last crown, I brought a teddy bear to clutch onto.  Good to hear your appointment is over with. I have seen the PiYo infomercial and while I'd like to do it, I know my back and wrists would not be happy about it. I'm sorry to hear your back is hurting.

Well, I noticed the home page has fitness on easy pay. I really don't need anything but browsed down and saw the Mirabai Holland system.  Hmm.  I have a lot of physical issues so am considering her for those days when it's hard to get going.  But I do not need any more DVDs!!

Happy Wednesday to all.

Just a quick note before I go do a workout.  Bopper, yes, I'm excited about Strong, too. 2 hours tonight, and an hour long episode tomorrow.  I hope it's good. I love watching other people do workout stuff, lol.

Power class and some morning yoga today.  No friends at the gym so I made a new one.

Have a great Thursday, everyone.

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Morning all, we're supposed to warm up to 50 today and I'm waiting and waiting and waiting... Hahah  It's 40 now...I did upper body on the Bodygym 2 rounds of 15 reps and some on the TG...Just made some egg salad and will use mashed avocado to replace the Miracle whip.  Haven't had egg salad in a while, so it will be my lunch.

So many with back issues and neck, I'm in the group too.  You just have to do what you can and take care of yoursef but try and find some form of exercise to do so your just not sitting and doing nothing.  I always think yes my neck hurts or my back hurts but I know there is something else I can do and I find it and do it.

Nomless I didn't see all of strong.  There were 5 shows on at the same time we watch,,,I hate that.  Hubby was real into the Red Wing game and then The Tigers were on, Survivor was on.. The Middle was on, The Voice was on...........  I know it's on again tonight.  I saw bits and pieces...was it drawn out in your opinoin, 2 hours long?

Laura, Pilates, Judy hope you all have a good day and the sun shines down on all of us.

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Hi all.  I recently only discovered these blogs here. .  But I saw a Malley TSV coming up on Facebook so I hopped on to order, saw the forum pages quite by accident and started reading the blogs for reviews about her make-up and became interested in others.  I can't believe I didn't notice them before!!  Anyway, what brings me here:   I am really into eating green and clean and I was really good at fitness until 2 years ago i started letting it all slide.  My husband's mom became ill and we took care of her for a while here until she passed in hospice.  Then my dad collapsed and would up in a nursing into a home and a couple months later my mom's already chronic and life threatening conditions got worse and she and my special needs sister moved in with us. So while I really did my best to focus on nutrition as i was cooking not just for my family, but for family members with cancer, kidney failure and heart disease and diabetes, but I slacked when it came to me.  I started smoking again, didn't sleep well, didn't properly take care of myself period. My mom passed before Christmas and I know I have got to be the most healthy I can be, because I have young kids and now a disabled sister to take care of, so  I am trying to change that and get my grove back.  i did quit smoking several weeks ago and feel like now is the time to get back into shape since I have better lung capacity.  Ellen Barrett really inspires me and I love her workouts, but I have to carve out time and space for me to jump into it again.  So I would love to belong to a group where i can come to for more support and motiviation.
