I know this might have been addressed but I can't find what I am looking for.
Are there any credible weight loss programs that don't use the weight loss meds that seem to be all over the place now? I don't want to use them. I know people lose a lot of weight on them but I know that there can be a lot of side affects from them, too.
I look on line and most of the plans include these meds.
Are there any weight loss programs that people here have tried that work and are not too restrictive and are fairly easly to implement?
I know people say -- well, just eat less, exercise, blah, blah, blah. I know all that! But - I need some kind of plan. Ideally, I would like some kind of place that offers support.
Thanks!

What has helped me lose weight and eat healthier was the help of people on you tube.
I love the advice of Kait Malthaner, certified nutrition coach, who has The Insulin Resistance Playbook on her yt page.
I also like Lillie Kane on yt and follow her along with the short videos of at insulin resistant 1.
Also, I do feel better not eating gluten anymore, that was from functional's dr. advice
It's not the old saying, everything in moderation, it matters what type of foods you eat, I found out.
Breakfast is no longer toast or oatmeal or starch. It's protein and fat and I try to aim for about 20-30 grams at every meal and I don't count calories
I liked the video from Lillie that mentioned six things to eliminate to lose weight

Weight Watchers. You can go to meetings, or do on line meetings or just follow their app. Depends on what you want to spend. They offer meds but it is absolutely not required and I would say the majority of users dont use them at all.

I need some help sticking to a program so am considering TOPS, either online or in person . . . and it is local to me which is not the norm for my area. We travel in the camper and I need to be able to join a meeting remotely.

I've used two, successfully, reasonable "real food", not depreivation type diets, nutrition based programs, similar in their approach.
Both were local programs, though one no longer exists, but you'd have had to be here in CT to use that one anyway.
The latest one I used last year, successfully, you could access from anywhere, and he does personal phone calls every two weeks while on the program, and moniters you that way, answers any questions, concerns etc. He also has an app, included in the program package to start.
The app is $9.95 a month, if you need it longer after you're done with him. He does a 3 month stint with you live. Rob Nevins, "Slim Nation", based in CT. Check him out online, website, Instagram, Facebook. He may seem like a quirky guy, he is, but he's good, and real deal, and his approach works.
He calls it a "Lean, Lean, Load", program. Two days of eating leaner choices to burn fat, not sugar. Then a "Load" day where you can eat more, then back to it. It's not so lean you feel starving, at all. To me it's normal, healthy, balanced eating but a little less for 2 days off and on. When you maintain, you don't have to do Lean/Lean/Load anymore, but normal, lean, balanced, real foods eating. But can go back to that if you ever feel you need to tweek.
His whole thing is not just a "number on the scale" which is only part of it...his focus is actually getting "leaner" by burning fat, not muscle or sugar.
Has you buy a $30 ArboLeaf scale on Amazon, to monitor
body composition, including fat loss. Also very helpful.
He'll explain best. NOT complicated or gimmicky...he designs your diet specifically for you, with foods you eat and love...which he reviews with you before he designs your program...and by program I mean...it's all just real balance diet of real foods you like. As he says, why try to get you to eat fruits/veggies/meats you don't like, not necessary, and not going to be something you sustain.
Lately, I see he's only addressed GP1 type things for people that have to use them...I'm not familiar what he's doing with that because I'm not on one and I'm maintaining now.
He also still responds if/when I have questions.
He's very friendly, funny, down-to-earth, but seriously has helped people do this for over 20 years. He's popular here in CT.

This exactly! If you must eat breakfast (I try to make it either a late breakfast or eat my first meal at noon) skip the carbs. No bread, cereal, oatmeal, etc. Of course you know no cake, danish, bagels, cookies but also no pasta or rice too.
Instead I have eggs with steamed or sauteed veggies. Salad for lunch with lots of greens. I add a good olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Protein and more vegetables for dinner. I can add cream sauces & butter but make sure I don't eat a lot of carbs.
If you want fruit the best to have are berries. I usually have blueberries and if I must have a snack I will have some nuts.

I just can't seem to follow said diet plans---and I don't need meds for weight loss. I know what is good, what is not, how to portion --what I can eat without problems what I eat that cause problems--when to eat, when not to eat. Can't pinpoint what about those plans makes me crazy either. I am finally down to my fighting weight--didn't have much to lose but I feel alot better now. I use portion control mostly especially at dinner time. And I am more active, no bending or jumping or any of that --mostly walking. food isn't that important to me much anymore--am 71--and sweets which were my addiction--aren't either. I have my 2 oz of dark chocolate each day, I cook from scratch and do not buy garbage food in boxes, I watch the sodium and the sugar. I read labels. I have no suggestions for a written plan. I started out with cutting back anything white--flour, sugar, rice, pasta, bread--not completely but maybe one meal a day. Carbs for me are not good but you need some. When I eat those things I eat a small amount. Also the one thing that really stayed with me is dividing your dinner plate into 4ths--half that plate is veggies, 1/4 is protein and the other 1/4 are carbs, which include fruits too.

Eat less, move more. Plain and simple. I lost 70lbs by doing this. I've kept it off for the past 6 years.

I memorized one of these "pocket books" when I was in high school...
