I've had success with WW but it's gotten weird, The community was generally quite supportive but there seemed to be many lifetimers promoting side gigs, and the recipe hacks were horrible.
Give me real food. I was in the minority, that liked Personal Points. So I just do my thing and quit paying a monthy fee.

I'm a 23 year LT member and have continued going to my meetings, have a wonderful leader, and am usually WW's number one supporter through thick and thin.
However, I'm disgusted with WW this morning. The drug part doesn't bother me so much anymore. If that's what people want/need, then so be it. The meds will work better with support ...
... EXCEPT:
WW is eroding the support part. Studios are shutting down in mass numbers throughout the country, as are meetings held in churches, hotels, etc. Leaders and staff have been dumped all around.
I'm very fortunate to have hung onto my meeting - for now. I suppose the new CEO really wants to bang the nails in WW's coffin.

@conlt wrote:I used WW since 2015. I initially lost 58 pounds, which was great, but the program changed about each year and I did better on some than the others. Once my mom got sick in 2018, I had to stop going to in-person meetings. I really liked those meetings but could not make it for 8 AM on Saturday AM.
Fast toward to 2022. I saw an endocrinologist for diabetes and thyroid issues and he put me on Mounjaro, it is a medication similar to Trulucity. From August 31, 2022 until February 2023, Iost 50 pounds. In February 2023, because of the demand for weight loss, I was unable to get the medication I started to feel hungry again. I was without it for about 5 weeks and my appetite started to come back.
Taking Munjaro is not easy, I get some nausea about 2 days after giving the injection. I often don't feel hungry and really don't enjoy food anymore.
The good side is my A1C dropped to 5.3 and I lost the 50 pounds.
I finally got the medication again and I am back on it. I realize I will have to take it for the rest of my life.
There is a doctor in my town who is popular because he is prescribing Trulicity for weight loss. It is these type of doctors. 1 of my coworkers, who was about a size 12 took it and lost 30 pounds. She is not a diabetic and was not overweight. She kept someone, who really needed the medication, from getting it.
I am staying on the medication. I probably will cancel my WW now because I don't use it. If you take Trulicity or Mounjaro, at least in my case, I don't have to do WW because I will eat very little portions just because of the medication.
My doctor made me promise that I'd join a srightloss program for the support and to help me eat properly. I chose NOOM because WW never really worked for me. I eat lean proteins, tons of fruits and veggies. Very few simple carbs. But I can only do this longterm because I'm on Trulicity and the constant hunger is gone. I can think and plan my meals. I don't think about food all the time. I don't think about food much at all. I stomach can't tolerate fatty foods now. I only get nauseous when I eat high fat foods.

I see many have had a smilar experience as I had with WW.
I became a WW Lifetime Member when the program was brand new, either the late 60's or early 70's. I went to the meetings with a neighbor, and we both did great and reached our goal weights in no time. No one said, but it was basically a low carb high protein diet back then. Years went by, and I gained a lot of the weight back. It was my fault, I was off the wagon and back to my old way of eating. I rejoined WW when the Point system was so popular. That never worked for me. I rejoined and started over so many times with no success, I gave up on WW. The Point system did not work for me. I never criticized WW because I don't like to rain on anybody's parade, especially when it comes to weight loss. I know how difficult it can be.
Because of all of WW's new ads recently, especially about the zero Point foods, I went on its web site. I was so surprised to find out there aren't any meeting places in my area, and the program is all on line. It is totally different from the days when I was going to meetings.

@chrystaltree I was trying to clarity that I do not intend to take that medicine.I have recently read about the meds and that they have side effects, are costly and must be taken for life or the pounds would come back. Even if I had 50 pounds to lose, I wouldn't take it. Sorry you misunderstood.

@chessylady , FWIW, I understood exactly what you were saying. I could say more; perhaps you can read through the lines.
Congratulations on your weight loss and I know you'll lose those few extra pounds.

@meem120 wrote:From what Ive read. WW bought a medical company called Sequence. Thru this company you can have virtual meetings with a Doc and get prescribed weight loss medication. They gave a list of the medications you can get, which goes from oral to the shot everyone is talking about. I think they said the cost is $99 a month and whatever the medication costs. This is above and beyond regular fees for online and meetings.
I think they have jumped the shark.
Wow I would have to agree with you. I was in weight watchers in the 80's and that program worked for me and I kept the weight off for a very long time. I started putting weight on again years later and went back and everything was different. It did not work for me. Not understanding why they are always changing. When something works stick with it. This whole weight loss medication is totally against everything they have ever talked about. Not good in my opinion

I was an avid WW. Lost great in the early years, but in the last 5 years, their programs dont work as well as the older ones. I stopped going I was paying $52 a month for the meetings. I enjoyed them but they got to be too touchy feelly and with all the 0 point foods i wasnt losing anything. I wasnt interested in my "why" I wanted a good weight loss program and this was no longer WW. Unfortunately.

People with diabetes need Ozempic. It helps them with their blood sugar, etc. it has now been in short supply due to so many taking it for weight loss. Last night on the news, a dr said it can cause very harmful side effects if you are not diabetic. He didn't elaborate. The weight stays off only as long as you take it. I would not take it since it is only a temporary fix and people with diabetes have a legitimate use for it, so I would not want to be someone creating a shortage of it.
