The Giants still look like they're having some issues with Eli Manning.I think he was 1-7 for something like 30 yards and that's not overly good for the second preseason game. The West Coat offense is designed to be quarterback friendly and Eli seems to be having all kinds of problems with it. I'm not sure they aren't getting real close to moving on from Eli. They had something like six or seven quarterbacks in various OTA's/camps this off-season which looked a tick suspicious, but now that we're seeing Eli try to fit into the West Coast offense it's starting to make more sense.
That Cowboy's defense is looking pretty scary to Cowboy fans. They've got to figure out a way to fix that and they've got to fix it fast. I'm not sure there's any one part of their defense that's solid. They may have to play a kamikaze style of defense this year with massive blitzes hoping to clog the running lanes and get to the quarterback before they can get burned. I'm not sure they can stop anyone any other way. That style of defense is somewhat suicidal, but it can result in big plays and occasionally stop the opponent while I'm not sure their base defense can. Don't be shocked to see them make wholesale changes in personnel when the rosters get cut to 53 players. They need more/better bodies on defense.
Hey GARDENMAN---they definitely need different personnel but who is out there that would really help that Cowboy's defense....I think they are in trouble
Eli and the West Coast Offense don't seem to be clicking together at all.......shouldn't the coaches fit the style to the player....I hate coaches who seem to try to put a square peg in a round hole.....
The reality is that there will be players cut on that final cut to 53 who will be better than some Cowboy defensive starters. If the Cowboys had a competent GM they'd be honestly grading their own guys now and creating grades on players likely to be cut at that final cut and making plans to grab them. The problem is their GM tends to overvalue "his" guys and undervalue "other" guys. There will be some very good players looking for work after that final cut and JJ could snatch up enough to improve the Cowboys, but chances are he won't.
When Andy Reid came to Philly he said it takes three years for a QB to fully learn the West Coast offense. I'm not sure Eli's career will last three more years, so changing the system on him this late in his career, to a system that's not suited to his skill set is interesting. They said that his issues with interceptions last year came from Eli preferring a seven step drop and the poor play of the offensive line didn't give him the protection he needed for a seven step drop. The West Coast offense uses three, five and seven step drops. Most of the routes and plays are run from the three and five step drops and not the seven step drops. It's really like they're setting up the team for a different QB in the very near future. It'll be interesting to see how Eli adapts. Odell Beckham is still dinged for the Giants too and that's not helping matters any.
RGIII has to learn to protect his body better. he can't keep talking the kind of shots he took in that game yesterday. I don't think any of the teams that passed on Johnny Football are sorry they passed on him just yet. He's looking pretty messy right now. He needs a lot of coaching and time to get settled and I'm not sure he'll be a competent starter for quite a while. The Browns could very well find themselves with the first overall pick next year and have to decide if the Manziel era ends after just one year.

I saw that several articles are predicting the Colts to go to the Superbowl. It's good that that there is confidence in the team, but it's too early to predict anything; the season hasn't even started. Wait until the teams play a few games and then see what happens. There could be injuries or other factors that affect playoffs. I'm not looking that far ahead yet.
I watched the Browns-Washington game. RG111 needs to be careful; he could end up getting hurt all over again. Cousins looked impressive, and overall Washington played a good game. I don't know why they kept running, though, when they couldn't get in the end zone the first three times. Should have kicked a field goal. The Colts play both teams this season. The Browns have a question at quarterback, but their defense looks scary. Washington could give us problems, also. They look better than last season. I like watching Pierre Garcon; he fits in well with that team.
