Way to go! 17-13 now this is exciting.

Re: Week Ten of the NFL Regular Season!!!

Am a huge Niner fan, so was watching the game on Fox. Getting ready to go into OT, the folks gather for the toss. The coin toss is made and immediately Fox switches to the Seattle game, which makes sense in this market (Portland), but made me crazy!

Was it absolutely necessary to do that? Probably - due to contractural elements. But, I remained really ticked.

Really glad the Niners pulled off the W.

Re: Week Ten of the NFL Regular Season!!!

Well, that was an "interesting" Sunday slate of games. Lots of blowouts and just a few close games. I felt sorry for the Saints losing that game in overtime. As a rule on a Hail Mary pass, anything goes and I've seen much worse than what was flagged on Sunday's almost game winning catch by Graham go unflagged, but Graham did push off a little. I've seen plays where the first receiver down the field grabs and holds as many defenders as he can to keep them occupied and I've seen defenders actively tackling receivers before the ball gets near them and very, very rarely is there a call. As a rule the home team even gets a bigger break, but the officials were all over Graham on that play. I'm guessing the defensive backs had been chirping at the officials all day about Graham pushing off and the officials decided to make a statement on the most important play of the game.

DeSean Jackson told the NFL on Fox guys that he had to call a team meeting to rally the team around RGIII when management announced he'd be the starting QB. That's generally not a good sign. Apparently much/most of the team would prefer someone/anyone else as the starting QB. When your disruptive wide receiver has to rally the team to support your franchise quarterback, there are some big time issues. Expect to see lots of personnel moves this off season in Washington.

I'm hoping the Packers got all of the scoring out of their system as we play them in Green Bay next week after a short week this week. That's looking more and more like a loss for the Eagles unless something dramatic happens.

And we have an Eagles game tonight. The local media have put Mark Sanchez into a can't win position. They keep insisting that anyone can be a great quarterback in Chip Kelly's system, so if he has a good game, it's due to the system. If he has a bad game, it'll be proof of how horrible a quarterback he is since he can't succeed even in Chip Kelly's quarterback friendly system. If Sanchez has a great game, it's the system. If he has a less than great game then he's a untalented hack who should be out of football. You've just got to love the Philly media.

I'm expecting the Eagles to play well tonight. Expect to hear Jordan Matthews' name a lot tonight. He and Mark Sanchez worked together most of training camp and developed a good feel for one another. Jordan Matthews is just now shaking off the rookie label and starting to play at a higher level. Over the next few weeks he's likely to emerge quite a bit.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Matt Barkley end up getting some playing time tonight. Sanchez isn't the most durable guy in the world and after not playing for over a year I suspect his radar on where defensive linemen/linebackers/blitzers are coming from will be a bit rusty, so he's likely to take a hit or two more than he should. Barkley's anxious (to put it mildly) to get back on the field and show what he can do, so he'll be looking for any opportunity he can get.

Here's hoping it's a good game and a win for the Eagles.

Re: Week Ten of the NFL Regular Season!!!

And that was a nice, stress-free game for the Eagles last night. It was pretty much over in the first quarter as the Eagles ran over, under, around and through the Panthers. Darren Sproles had yet another punt return for a touchdown. (You can hear the groans coming from New Orleans each time Sproles touches the ball. Getting him for a fifth round pick was highway robbery.) Mark Sanchez wasn't brilliant but he performed well enough. Jordan Matthews had a big game as expected. Sanchez and Matthews were joined at the hip since the draft. The defense just toyed with Cam Newton the whole game. If they weren't sacking him they were getting interceptions. It was just an all around good game for the Eagles.

Now on to Green Bay on Sunday. That will be a good measuring stick game for this Eagles team. We're starting out as five point underdogs. The Packers are playing very well. The Eagles have faced sub-par quarterback play the last few weeks, but Aaron Rodgers is not a sub-par quarterback. This will be a very telling game for both teams and both teams are likely to meet again in the playoffs barring anything unforeseen happening between now and then.

Looks like Eagles haven't missed a beat with Sanchez taking over gardenman. I only watched until halftime. That was enough to put the Eagle fear in me. Congrat on your win.

Re: Week Ten of the NFL Regular Season!!!

The good news is Chip Kelly wasn't happy with the offensive performance. He feels they left too many points on the board. (Truthfully, he's probably right. There were plenty of mental lapses on offense last night. We had two guys running the same route a couple of times. Guys lining up in the wrong place. Those kinds of mistakes we hadn't seen previously. I'm not sure if it was Sanchez or the individual players, but Chip wants to make sure they clean that up before we face the Packers next week.)

One of the big questions this past off season was where would the Eagles find a pass rusher. We didn't really add anyone, but this year we're second in the league in sacks and getting better every week. It's kind of impressive the improvement we've seen from our existing guys going into a second year in the system. Our defense right now is probably the strength of the team.

I was sorry to see Carson Palmer go down with another knee injury. That contract he signed looks awfully good for him now. All of the injury risk was on the Cards (unlike Kaepernick's contract) so he gets his money even though he's unlikely to play until next year at best.

The Broncos, desperate for help on the offensive line, are talking to Richie Incognito (the bully from Miami) and might sign him. I suspect that would be a veteran's minimum contract with little to no money up front. He'll be on the shortest leash possible if they sign him.

Hi GARDENMAN--CONGRATS on your win!!!Sanchez played well....

Surprisingly DeSean has been well behaved and a good team player and not disruptive at all.....I agree things do not look they are going well in the locker room at Washington.....

That was a HUGE loss for the Saints....

Re: Week Ten of the NFL Regular Season!!!

The Colts recently had Josh Cribbs work out for them. He hasn't been signed, but there is speculation as to what it's about. Grigson has been looking to upgrade ball returners, and Cribbs has a record of being one of the best punt returners. The thing is, he was just getting over an injury and I can't overlook the fact that he was cut by the Raiders. If the Raiders don't want him, there must be a reason. Maybe he's past his prime. But apparently, he did have a good workout with the Colts.

I'm wondering who would be waived, if they decide to sign Cribbs. I'm not sure what to think yet. I'll have to see if he's signed and how the Colts would work the roster to fit him in. It could be a good signing, if it happens, but have to see what happens to some other players.
