And it's week six already! I think things may get a bit crazy this week.
We start out with the Thursday night game with the Giants at Chicago. I've got to go with the Bears here. The Giants are a mess this year. They are playing like they want a new coach and unless they start playing better they're likely to get one. They're more talented than the way they're playing right now, but the spark just isn't there this year. They play well for stretches and then fold at the slightest adversity. You keep thinking Eli can't keep throwing picks, but he does. With no running game they're dependent on Eli and he's not playing well.
Green Bay goes to Baltimore. It's hard to pick Baltimore as they're pretty up and down. Green Bay will be hurting a bit losing Matthews, but I still think Green Bay will pull this one out.
Cincinnati goes to Buffalo. I've got to give the edge to the Bengals.
Detroit goes to Cleveland. I think Cleveland will find a way to win this game. I know they shouldn't, but I think they will.
Saint Louis goes to Houston. I've got to think that Matt Schaub will be looking to silence his critics and will have a good game. He just can't get too careful with the ball. I'm picking Houston.
Oakland goes to KC. I wouldn't be shocked to see KC get upset here, but I'm not courageous ehough to pick Oakland. I'll pick KC.
Carolina goes to Minnesota. I'll take the Vikings here.
Pittsburgh goes to the Jets. I'm taking the plunge here and picking the Steelers. They've got to win a game sometime and why not against the Jets?
The Eagles go to Tampa Bay. Tampa's coming off a bye so they're rested and pretty healthy while the Eagles will be playing a bit hobbled, but I'm favoring the Eagles in this one. Nick Foles will likely be the starting QB and he's a good NFL caliber QB. His timing and rhythm passing game will likely force the Bucs into a zone defense and with the Eagles having speed on the outside to stretch the zones you're apt to see Brent Celek, Jason Avant and Zach Ertz have big games underneath the safeties and linebackers. This will likely be a game of eight and nine yard chunks of yardage instead of fifty yard plays you'd see under a Vick, but the consistency of Foles should carry the day. This is the end of the schedule maker's early season stress test for the Eagles. We started out with three games in eleven days and then followed that up with three straight road games with this last one coming against a team coming off a bye. From here on out the schedule smooths out for a bit for the Eagles.
Jacksonville goes to Denver. This will probably be a closer game than many think, but there's no real way Jacksonville should win if Denver shows up. A big win for Denver should happen here.
Tennessee goes to Seattle. Always take Seattle at home. I'd take Seattle at home over Denver. You just never pick against Seattle at home.
New Orleans goes to New England. Time for another upset pick. I've got the Patriots winning this one. Tom Brady has probably been a tad unhappy this week and there's nothing like an unhappy Tom Brady to focus his receivers. That kiddie receiving corps of his has probably had a pretty unpleasant week of practice and I'm thinking they'll punish the Saints. It should be a good game, but I've got the Patriots making the plays to win. The Patriots almost never lose back to back weeks.
Arizona goes to San Francisco. I've got the Niners in this one.
Washington goes to Dallas. Time for another upset pick. I'm picking the Redskins in this one. NFC East teams always play each other tough. That Cowboy lost this past week hurt them. The Redskins need to win this game and they're slowly improving each week. For whatever reason the Cowboys seem more vulnerable to their NFC East rivals at home than on the road. I think the Redskins will find a way to win this game. It should be a pretty entertaining game.
And finally on Monday night we've got the Colts going to the Chargers. I'm going with the upset here too and picking the Chargers. I think the Colts are the better team, but my gut says the Chargers find a way to win this one.
