If JJ brought RGIII here, there would be an uproar like you never heard before. And that would just be from me. Imagine the noise when the other fans chime in....or roar in. Anyway, we all know JJ likes Manziel, and he's another one I don't want.

I don't know about Romo retiring. I don't see it happening, maybe if we win the SB I could see it happening. But for his own future health, I wouldn't blame him in the least if he did retire.

qvcfreak, I was a ball of nerves also. I had a bad feeling at first. but once the game started I felt like we were going to win. It makes my life a lot calmer if I copy the game then watch if we win.

I record all Cowboy games and if they lose, I immediately delete it but if we win I watch it over again with a lot more calmness.

You sound like me. I recorded the game on Thanksgiving with Philly as we were at our son's house and while the game was one, I didn't see all of it and really didn't hear any of the commentary (probably a good thing). If they had won I would have watched it, but since they lost I deleted it without watching a minute.

Re: Romo retiring after this year. I don't see that happening if he and his back stay healthy. He's actually getting better, so may have some good year(s) left. But he, like any quarterback, is always only one play away from a season or career ending injury.

Re: Week 14 of the NFL Regular Season!!!

RGIII going once . . . twice . . . GONE. The euphoria in DC his first year was simply because the town was hungry for a win. Of course his college style of play would be figured out and defenses would crush him. This same town is hungry to eat him up, because his arrogance outplayed his performance. Might doesn't always make right.

And now Jayson Werth is appealing his 5 day jail sentence (on to baseball) for driving 105MPH in a 55 zone. Such good fodder for the pundit in all of us.

Go Rams, but Go Colt! The new name for the GM is Bruce Cerrato.

I don't know when some of these G M are going to realize college style in quarterbacks never work in the NFL.

It really is a gamble. Some work out and become solid pros, most don't. It's easy to become infatuated with a guy like RGIII or Manziel when you watch their highlights, but that transition from college to the pros is a challenge. And truthfully, even now you don't know what will happen. In three years time we may be admiring how brilliant Johnny Manziel/RGIII are and wondering why anyone would ever have doubted them. (I doubt it, but you never know.) We've seen running quarterbacks move to the pros and do well (Russell Wilson being one who's doing quite well these days.) We've seen pro-style quarterbacks who were expected to come into the NFL and be stars who have imploded badly.

You need a talented quarterback, willing to learn/sacrifice, in the right system, with the right coaches, the right teammates, and the right situation, to really maximize his potential. Mark Sanchez was considered a total failure after his stint with the Jets and he's likely to be a highly sought after free agent after one year with Chip Kelly in the Eagles system.

If I was a GM I'd never make an RGIII type trade (three first round picks and a second) to get a guy. I'd take my chances picking later and hope for the best. In the 2012 draft Andrew Luck went first overall (good pick) RGIII second (probably not a good pick) Tannehill was taken eighth (eh) and Weeden taken 22nd (not good.) Brock Osweiller (backing up Peyton Manning so we don't know much about him) went in round 2 at 57. Russell Wilson and Nick Foles were taken 75th and 88th. I'd pretty much take either of those two (Wilson/Foles) over any of the other five other than Andrew Luck. Why waste three first round picks and a second round pick on a guy who you truly don't know how successful he'll be. If the Redskins had passed on RGIII, kept their picks and grabbed Russell Wilson in the third round, they'd likely be a playoff caliber team now and laughing at whoever picked RGIII. Instead they pretty much crippled the team, made a big splash, and are now looking for a quarterback all over again.

Re: Week 14 of the NFL Regular Season!!!

And it's game day!!!! My early games today are the Steelers/Bengals and the Giants/Titans. Then we've got the Eagles/Seahawks after that and finally the Patriots/Chargers tonight. It sounds like a pretty good day of football watching to me.

Things to watch for in the Eagles game. Both defenses have been very stingy lately, so whichever defense is the most generous will likely lose this game. Expect the Eagles special teams unit to thrive today. Chris Maragos, one of the Eagles special teams standouts, is a former Seahawk who wants to remind them of what they're missing. The Eagles have been keeping Darren Sproles under wraps in recent weeks, saving him for the big games/playoffs to come. We could see a lot more of him today.

The Seahawks will need to stay close in this game. They're not really made to come from behind to win. Their receiving core is average and Russell Wilson is more dangerous as a runner, short-range passer than a down the field passer. If they fall behind by ten or more points a comeback could be hard to manufacture. Russell Wilson has been sacked quite a bit lately (I believe eleven times in the last two games) and the Eagles pass rush is very strong (second in the league to Buffalo.) I expect the Seahawks to try and sneak in some early passes to try and de-fang the Eagles pass rush, then run on obvious passing downs hoping to find a lane to gash the Eagles. Lure the pass rushers up the field and then run/screen behind them.

The Eagles have a much more varied offensive attack and if they can catch the Seahawks out of position you could see a few big plays happen. The Eagles offensive tempo is such that it's challenging for a defense to maintain their composure and align properly before the ball is snapped. If the Seahawks sneak a safety (likely Kam Chancellor) up in the box to stop LeSean McCoy then you're apt to see the Eagles take a shot or two deep down the field. The Eagles are apt to send two wide receivers deep to force the remaining safety to pick a side and then throw to the other side. They could also sneak one or two tight ends (or Sanchez's favorite target the slot receiver Jordan Matthews) deep to further complicate life for the remaining safety. The Eagles are a run first team, but if a defense is sneaking up a safety to take away the run, then Chip has no problems throwing the ball.

We could see a big game from Riley Cooper today. He likely won't be matched up man to man with Richard Sherman so he's got that going for him. The problem is Mark Sanchez doesn't seem to trust Riley. Last week Riley lined up in the correct position, but then got a tongue lashing from Sanchez who thought he was lined up improperly. Sanchez was wrong and Riley was right, but those two have just not been on the same page. Since Sanchez has started we've seen multiple occasions where there have been formation issues. We didn't see that with Nick Foles. The Eagles receivers have a lot more experience than Sanchez in this offense and seem to have been right where they lined up while Sanchez was mistaken, but hopefully that's all getting ironed out in meetings and practices.

It should be a good day of football watching today. We'll know a lot more about a few of the playoff bound teams after this week's games. Some teams are already building for next year. The Redskins cut Aldrick Robinson their speed wide receiver who never made much of an impact and you're likely to see many more players cut as more teams get eliminated from playoff contention. If a guy isn't in your plans for next year then it's a good time to get rid of him and bring up someone from the practice squad (or raid other team's practice squads) to try and find someone who can help the team next year. There are a few weeks left where coaches can see a guy in practice/games and get a feel for how they'll fit. If you're a team that's out of the playoff hunt, that's the smart move to make. Flush the dead wood, find players who might be better and give them a shot.

Re: Week 14 of the NFL Regular Season!!!

That Saints team may get gutted this off season. At the very least you can bet Rob Ryan is gone.

The Redskins are also likely to see some wholesale changes. The Redskins have three quarterbacks on the roster and none of the three are playing well. I wouldn't be shocked to see all three gone by the start of training camp. Colt McCoy hasn't looked good. RGIII's been terrible. Kirk Cousins is not the answer. It'll be interesting to see what moves they make in free agency and then the draft.

Re: Week 14 of the NFL Regular Season!!!

The officiating in the first quarter of the Eagles game has been "interesting." The Eagles are being flagged for anything and everything while the Seahawks mugged the Eagle receivers on that first possession with nary a flag thrown. The Seahawks on this possession had a lineman down field that wasn't called, they had an illegal forward pass that wasn't called while the Eagles just got a defensive end called for holding on the tight end when he just bumped him off the line of scrimmage.

Re: Week 14 of the NFL Regular Season!!!

Good game! The Browns didn't make things easy; they have a scary defense. It's a good thing the Colts' defense stepped up big time; otherwise they would have had problems.Cleveland kept the Colts offense to a record low 117 yards in the first half, and they scored two defensive touchdowns, besides sacking Luck and causing some fumbles. Fortunately, they couldn't score off the Colts' mistakes. Vontae Davis was out, and the Indy defense still played a stellar game. Final score Indy 25-Cleveland 24. Can't get much closer than that. And with Baltimore and Pittsburgh both winning, the AFC North is getting interesting.

I can't believe how the Saints have imploded. There might be some big changes in the off season. Washington, also, is bound to see major changes.

Re: Week 14 of the NFL Regular Season!!!

Ugh!!! The officials in this game are killing me!!!!! Three times in that last drive Wilson threw the ball twenty yards out of bounds with no receiver in the area and none of them were called intentional grounding. Chip Kelly is about to kill an official and with good reason. This crew has officiated five Eagles games since Chip Kelly took over as coach and the Eagles are 1-4 in those games. They've officiated six Seahawk games in that same period and the Seahawks are 5-1. They've absolutely blown more calls in one half than I've seen in any full game all season. Jeez! Keep these officials away from the playoffs!!! They're horrible!
