Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

[ Edited ]

@bopper OMG! I had no idea. I hope you have your power back. We have dropped from the 70s to the 50s here, but nothing like that. Stay warm and enjoy your day.

I finished my R30 bike ride and reacquainted myself with my 2qt pressure cooker for the turkey tenderloins.

Guys, Candid Camera needed to be here. The whole pot started steaming before I realized the top was unlocked and then the pressure went and sprayed my mushroom bisque all over the counter before I got my towel over it. I was nothing but entertainment today! 🤣👩🏻‍🍳🦃

I did end up with a very nice meal of turkey tenderloins in herb mushroom bisque over mashed garlic sweet potatoes with grain bread and a side chef salad with poppy dressing.

I bought a tiny pumpkin pie not even a slice from Walmart last week so I got it all in.

Then I tried to work some of it off, so I am good. I am now going to do some laundry and relax the rest of the day.

I am trying my best not to buy anything more. Although I may have done a budget of what I could spend if I did. 🫣 I can't wait for the rest of my stuff to come in. I have done well in remaking my nest and indulging in some self care.

Have a great holiday all!

Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  Quite a storm in your area.. hope the power stays on and you can hunker down and be safe.. then dig out!

@Laura14  Candid camera would have loved your story.. at least you are smiling about it and your dinner came out good.

Coming on here to say  my Whole Foods dinner was a bust.. Won't do that again.  There was soomething bitter about the turkey and I didn't care for any of  the sides.  Getting it all warmed up,carving the turkey, plus what I made- heck in hindsight I should have done it all myself. The men didn't rave about it either.. I had an almost fast day.. didn't eat dinner, but did have some of my appetizers..  I sent almost all leftovers home with the kids and I usually keep the turkey carcass for soup but didn't think it would make good soup- so it went into the garbage. Enough leftovers for my DH- I'll figure out something for me.

I am glad the holiday is over.

@bopper  sorry the Lions didn't win- but DH and one DS were very happy the Packers won.

As much as dislike the Cowboys- I was happy KC lost!! It was hard to root for either.

I am meeting a friend for coffee this morning- we are not Black Friday shopping.

And I guess more NFL football today.

We could get some snow this afternoon and bitter cold weather this weekend. Winter is arriving.

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday..

Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  - So sorry to hear about your storm.  Hope today is better

@violet runner - What a shame about your dinner!

@Laura14  -Your story made me chuckle.  Glad all turned out ok.

DD and I drove out to my sister and brother-in-law's apartment and the dinner we had in the dining room of their retirement community was excellent.  So good, we all went back for seconds.  After we left them, DD and I went back to her house and picked up her dog and went for a long walk along the Bay.  Luna loved all the squirrels and birds and we threw her ball for her for a little bit but she was way to distracted by all the leaves, smells, birds, and squirrels - no she didn't catch any - to pay attention to her ball.  We were sitting on a bench resting and looking out over the Bay, and Luna got into a staring match with a squirrel.  It was pretty funny.  Neither moved but just stared at each other.  It was chilly out and one needed a jacket but it wasn't an uncomfortable chilly.

Think today will probably be a quiet day at home.  May put away my Fall decorations and get out a few Christmas things.  Take care!

Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Hi everyone!   Seems you all had quite a Thanksgiving day...one way or the other.

@violet runner ....I bought a butterball turkey breast and cooked it in my crock pot, along with gravy and stuffing.   First time I've done it in crock pot.  I have to say, it was soooo easy and beyond tasty and tender....meat just fell apart with a fork.  So keep this in mind for next time.

If I had my whole family here, id do a whole large turkey in oven....but since it was only me and hubs, figured id try crock pot.

It's leftovers today, and I also made 2 legs in the oven...he likes them.

Finished my Christmas decorations, and all lights are up, and I decorated my front gate with 2 wreaths and other decor, and bows.

Got a few chores in and laundry....

Then I did my legs and a short walk outside.

Our weather took quite a dip in temps overnight...in 40's and a cold wind....but feels good, bright and sunny.   Will be back to 80 this weekend.

@bopper ...I saw your snow on the news this morning,  wow...all white ❄️⛄️.

Have a great weekend everyone!! 🌞

Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Friday!

I took the day off from work and I have enjoyed myself. Did Core and finished up my strength challenge for the week. Got a new badge for five classes in a row. 🎉

Not sure what I'll do the rest of the day. I really should wash the car, but we'll see.

Also working on leftovers. One thing about the pressure cooker is you get a delicious meal in ten minutes.

Putting together some last minute food shopping lists that I will do at some point this weekend. Maybe a few last things for the house. We'll see.

Have a great end of week all! Stay warm.

Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Friday!!   @Laura14 I'm laughing at Candid Camera!!  Or Lucy and Ethel!

Just hubs and myself yesterday, a small breast of turkey, I thought it was to salty so didn't eat any of it.  I told hubby he can make sandwiches with the rest.   I'm not a turkey person or ham for that matter.  @Dazlin did it brown in the crockpot?  I always wonder if it will get that crust or lack of a better word that golden color in a crockpot.  The moisture though is what I'm looking for.  I bet the gates are pretty!  Is there a wreath on the barn too?

Yep the Lions lost, and we never cheer for the Pack ( sorry wink wink)  More football tonight.

I have my box ready to be taken to the PO for my boys in CO.   I'm almost done shopping for gifts, the rest is $ or gift cards.

I snowshoed this afternoon, wow that's a good workout over 500 calories in under an hour.  It was quite magical, the trees were bent over in arches with the snow.  If any of you are on FB you can friend me, I posted some pictures there.  Seems we should know each other haha!

Have a good rest of the day, they said 6 more inches coming tomorrow!

Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Good afternoon!

Beautiful day by the Bay.  Brought up my tree from the garage, got it set up, the Christmas tree skirt around it, and turned on the lights.  Willow promptly left the room and hid in in the kitchen.  She finally came out and sniffed the tree and walked around underneath it.  Will see how things go before I had ornaments  Even if I do add ornaments, they may only be on the top half.  Anything round that rolls is a toy to Willow so ornaments don't stand a chance.  LOL  Hung our stockings - mine and DD's - by the chimney and put a couple decorations on the mantle.  Also hung a decoration on the inside of the front door so I can see it.  Think that'll be it for me this year.  Unless I get inspired to bring up more stuff.

Not sure what I'll do the rest of today.  Have a good Friday!

Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper ...I browned the turkey skin side down in a frying pan 1st with a little neutral oil, and seasoning.  Then put it in the crock pot.  It doesn't stay crispy, but it was brown.  I hate the skin anyway,  so I took it off my portion.  Browning always helps seal in moisture,  but I find almost almost anything I cook in the crock stays very moist and tender.

I dumped a bunch of gravy in too...that helps.  Cooked for 5 hours.

I went off Facebook a long time ago, so I really don't have any intentions to start up again.   I wish we could private message each other here...that way we can share our email addresses and then some.

Your adventure in the winter wonderland sounds exhilarating....I love exercise like that....you get to be outside and have fun, yet your working your body good!!

I remember having to walk everywhere during a snow storm because I couldn't get the car out...I loved it....felt challenging and healthy.

No wreath on barn...usually I put bows on their stalls doors, but I dont have anymore...if I get to dollar tree, I'll pick some up.  It's just me and hubs in there anyway.  If I get the kids across the street more often I'll decorate...the girls like to help and love the horses.

Just had leftovers...went back outside again...ill do another little walk later on...it'll be like 3 short spurts today.

 I really should give myself a mani/ pedi...maybe tomorrow.

Re: WELCOME TO THE NOVEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  When I cook a whole chicken in the crockpot i have spices I place on top and I don't add water ( per recipe) and it does brown the skin..

Hope you aren't getting round 2 of a storm there.

Also you are so ahead of me- I haven't wrapped anything and I don't have to mail  to my GS- good for you.. I literally will drag my feet when it comes to wrapping.. but I should get out the paper etc and keep up with what I buy.

Looks like a storm is headed our way.. and very cold. My plan is to bundle up and get out before my coffee meet up this morning. My DH made an appt online to get our snowtires on Monday.

I met a friend yesterday and notice the parking lot at Walmart was full as I drove by. There hasnt' been alot adverstised about not buying at big box stores for a week. I thought I would try.. and blew it by ordering my supplement through Amazon. Supposedly the dates are Nov 27- Dec 5. Apparently lots of people didn't get the message either- there was increased traffic too- people were out and about.

@JudyL  bet your kitty will find a home under your tree ( or on top! HA! ) once it gets used to it there..

That's the news in my area..

Did see the Bears beat the Eagles.. are the Bears for real this year??

@violet runner  - She is starting to sit under it quite a bit and clean herself, etc.  As if she's trying to make a bed out of the skirt.  So think I"ll wrap a couple presents and put them under there.  Maybe that will discourage her - maybe.  Don't want her "digging" at the skirt and trying to scrunch it up like cats do to make themselves comfortable.  My friend's mom made the tree skirt and the Christmas scene on it is all done by cross stitch and takes up about 3/4 of the skirt, then it has a lace border all around it.  Took her a long time to do it and her mom isn't with us anymore so it's special to me.
