Re: WELCOME TO THE MAY EXERCISE AND MORE THREAD

May! This time in my life I don't like to rush the days, but in my circumstance I wish these next few months to be done and get back to "normal" life. Feel like I am in limbo at the moment. Today I have labs and an appt with my doc. Hoping to reduce he dosage of chemo- getting too many side effects, I have my 3rd treatment next Tues, so a good time to ask,

I have been walking with hiking poles and liking that better.  Feel steadier,

My  family is coming tomorrow - sons and GS. Supposed to be a nice weekend.

   Have a good weekend everyone.

@violet runner

I hope you are starting to feel better!  It's hard to try to keep fitness up when you have major health challenges!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MAY EXERCISE AND MORE THREAD

New month - makes you feel like it could be a fresh start!  I have been feeling kind of down - rather defeated.  For quite a few months I had been going to an exercise place and feeling kind of better and more hopeful about myself.  Then, my back issues got really bad and I had to quit and have been doing PT for it and am not progressing like I wish.  I feel like I get 2 steps forward and then get 5 steps back!  Also, let myself stress eat and gain quite a bit of weight -- not terribly helpful.  I looked into this one weight loss program, but didn't care for it and today, if I have time, I am going to look into another one.  I read this topic a lot and am so impressed by everyone here - thanks for reading my post.  And all the best to all!

Re: WELCOME TO THE MAY EXERCISE AND MORE THREAD

@AngelPuppy1 I am with you. I hurt my back in March and had to come off of all my exercises classes.

I have been managing to lose some weight with just walking and some protein powders. If you can do that, I walk about three miles at a local park three times a week. Even if you walk shorter distances more times a week, it all counts.

I literally went on a mission with back and ankle braces, grabbers to prevent bending over, bed pillows, heating pads, patches, compression socks, new sneakers, etc. to exist in my new reality and help myself heal.

I just got some stuff for work so I have back support there too.

Don't give up! It's a slow process, I have hurt my back again twice since, but you keep doing what you can do.

I am adding back in yoga this month to help and I also have some back exercises I do every day too. We'll get there. ❤️

Re: WELCOME TO THE MAY EXERCISE AND MORE THREAD

Happy Friday all,

I am going to try again to get a walk in today. I used my new heating pad and body pillow last night. I slept like a baby!

If you have sleep issues, highly recommend! The heating pad I got is huge, but it straps around your waist to keep it there. Doesn't get too hot at low levels either.

I love this crazy body pillow that you can grab onto lots of different ways. It was a great night's sleep and helpful for my back.

I got a blue one, even though it was pictured as purple online, and when I went back thinking I ordered the wrong one, the description is grey. It's completely blue, people.

Whatever makes you smile.

Happy almost weekend! 👏🌈

Re: WELCOME TO THE MAY EXERCISE AND MORE THREAD

Hi all...home catching up on much needed chores...going to stop soon and not overdo.

@Laura14 ...my daughter sits on one of the big Swiss balls at her desk...have you considered that?

@violet runner ...your doing amazing and you are so determined...thats all helping you!!

Hope you find that sweet spot during your treatments.  I know there are remedies to lesson the side effects...you'd have to ask your Dr about those meds.

For all us here...nothings a quareentee....life changes from one minute to the next.

As you all have seen...I've been through one obstacle after the other....I get on board, bike, exercises, walking....then, BOOM...your not going today!!

I haven't exercised since last week...and no legs because of knee.

Now im wearing this patch on my chest, sweat can loosen it....so I have to try reducing that.  I have extra replacements dr gave, but, still...im not going to induce it if I can help it.

It's hitting 90 here...so im out, and back in asap.

I did stalls this morning.wasnt terrible yet, and I put fans on...but got in and jumped right in the shower and drank ice water...with cranberry...staying on that.

So...look...do the best you can, when you can!!💞

Re: WELCOME TO THE MAY EXERCISE AND MORE THREAD

Happy May 1st while its snowing here @Dazlin .    Why is it so one way and another!  I don't want 90 for sure either.  Our windchill is 24!

@AngelPuppy1 I'm really glad you are here!   We all seem to be going through something here, I have groin pain now, so have to be very careful what I am doing, and neck and back, my elbow hurts LOL, it's a trip for sure!!!   We just do what we can because that is always better than nothing.

@violet runner glad to see you post.  For sure ask the dr. if you can cut some of the meds back so you don't have so many side effects.   Using walking poles is a great idea too.  Gives you more confidence walking.

@Laura14 the aches and pains right!!   I don't mention mine often because I have so many and I know it looks like I do a lot but it's not without discomfort.  Now this groin pain, arthritis, or a tear or who knows what, not the first time I have experienced it either and I'm not a dr. person so nope, not until I can't move.  Call me stupid, I have heard it before. stand strong!! LOL  I did a Chat gpt and they said no butterfly stretching, or inner thigh work, gave me some great things to do on the reformer though, gentle walking, and gentle cycling.  I can do that.  I think I made the mistake the last 3 days of doing butterfly stretch and that was a big NO.   I got up at 3 am to take an Advil as I can't sleep because my leg hurts, then went back to sleep.  It wore off though.

I know people read this thread and don't comment at all so maybe we do help people without knowing we do.  We're very honest and open here.

Have a good day everyone, we all have to keep our chins up and lean towards the sun not the dark cloud!

@Laura14

I have been trying to walk but I just do it at home.  I can't seem to get my back issues straightened out.  This is the worst it's ever been.  I am so fearful it will never get get back to where it was.

I hope things get better for you and you really sound like a strong person.  I wish you all the best also!
