Hello all, pretty day here but the wind is CRAZY - about 40 mph. Will have lots more sticks to pick up for sure. ![]()
@smoochy Good to "see" you. You are certainly ambitious and I agree with the others - the more you exercise the more you want to. I also agree that the elliptical machine is something else - the first time I tried it I actually got queasy. I do the Ellipse floor stepper thing, equivalent to walking five miles a day and that is working out well. Also love the exercise bike and am looking forward to decent weather to do some outside work and some walking.
@violet runner Sounds like you are coming along just fine and even upping up the exercise ante. Hopefully you will continue to improve.
@bopper Geez, that was some blizzard. Hopefully everybody survived okay. Grateful that you had wood back up heat ! Hang in there - Spring is coming ( or so they say ).
@JudyL Hoping you got great news from the surgeon today and your PT has provided excellent results - you have really been working hard at it.
Wishing all a great weekend. ![]()

Hi everyone...its been about a while since I've posted here, but I do stop to see the wonderful determined activities many here do! I see some have health issues, yet you still push on...👐.
I kinda stopped my own extra activities. I was walking and going to a park around a beautiful intracoastal area in here Florida.( maybe some recall) I was caring for both my parents and my toddler grandson up until last year, so I really didn't have anything left for me. My grandson and daughter are on their own now, and sadly both my parents have passed, dad, last April, then mom in July.
There has been sooooo much to do, but I think im finally seeing the light and im trying to take back some of my life. I'm back to walking around 40-50 minutes and I'll be visiting the park too. Only thing , my hip is hurting pretty bad...been several months. Have no idea what's up with that, but im not giving in. I could stand to lose 5lbs too, maybe 7...so with walking and watching my comforting snack at p.m...maybe I'll get there.🙄
I've noticed my weight doesn't come down easy...yet it goes up easy...for sure 😡
Anyway...great to see the people here doing so good, keep it up. I'll try stop in more often...wish me the best to keep walking...TY !!

Good afternoon!
@Dazlin - so good to see your post. Sorry to hear about your parents. Am glad to see that you are starting to, as you say, take back some of your life. Keep us posted and stop by as often as you'd like.
Sugeon report: We talked about a lot of things so I'll try to make this short. No PT - either at the PT place or at home - for 2 weeks. He is putting me back on anti-infammatory medication as he wants the swelling in my knee to come down. As he said, I've been doing PT since mid-November and my knee needs a break. After 2 weeks, I can start to do PT exercises at home and he'll see me in 6 weeks to see how I'm doing. The Dr feels that if we can get the swelling down my "motion" numbers will be a lot better. He wants to see if this happens, if not, then we'll consider the other option which I'm not even gong to talk about cuz it makes me nauseous. LOL He was happy with my other numbers from the PT, need to continue to strengthen my quad muscles - which for now he says I can continue doing my walks and Cubii but that's it exercise-wise. Nothing else.
That's it. I'm so happy no PT for 2-6 weeks. Told him that not only does my knee need a break from it but so do I. Can't wait until their lunch hour is over and I can call PT and cancel next week's appt.
It's a beautiful sunny mid-60's day here. Going to have some lunch and not sure what else.

@JudyL ...thank you for your reply.
I've read many of your posts about your knee, surgery, etc. I can only agree a break would be good. Years ago, I had shoulder surgery and MUCH PT before and after...one sure thing I learned and was told by my ortho drs...if PT hurts, it may be more detrimental than helpful.
You seem to be active and try to keep up with your daily activities...so stay smart and do what you can and listen to your body 🙂

@JudyL Thanks for the update from your surgeon. Giving your body a break sounds reasonable. Plus you have made it your #1 focus since Nov.. This takes some pressure off you and maybe just maybe it will all come together for you backing off a little. I wish that for you. Everyone's recovery is different .
Yesterday I didn't realized how cold it was going to be here.. I had planned a nice long walk- but cut it short- only a couple of miles on a path. No one else was out there so that tells you how cold it was!! I had gloves on and my hands still got so cold.. I parked near a coffee shop and went inside and warmed up with small coffee...
Today the warm up begins- not balmy but sun and higher temps.. I am going to get out there again. And then meet my weekely group for coffee.. I am 71 and am the youngest one there..
Have a wonderful day everyone.. Some good college basketball games today if you are into that. March Madness will be here soon!

@JudyL besides a physical break from PT, a mental break probably sounds so good if not better! I hope the anti-inflammatory works!
I've had such a busy week that I've not walked nor done my core exercises as much as usual. I will walk today, do my core/shoulder exercises, and hope to get back on track with everything next week.

Good morning!
This morning I did some stretches. The hip flexor stretch that I need to do, I can do on my "good" knee but can't do it the same way on my other knee so need to find a way to modify it. Tried one way this morning and not sure it worked very well but may be the best I can do for now. Did some other stretches too. It was interesting getting down on the floor and back up again but I did it! Will try and get a walk in later today, depending on how the knee feels.
Was watching Saturday Morning Q this morning and they showed a set of rayon bamboo sheets and one of the patterns looked so spring-y and happy that I couldn't resist it. Have never had rayon bamboo sheets but have heard - other than the Q - how wonderful they feel. Hope that it's true!
Its a sunny day in the low 60's for the weekend. Cool down expected Monday with a big storm coming on Wednesday.
Will check in later if I do my walk. Enjoy your Saturday!

Happy Saturday, the snow is beginning to melt after the blizzard on Wednesday. It's 30 outside, but it was below 0 when I got up this morning. 60 sounds good to me!!
I did a treadmill workout today, and called it good.
@JudyL glad no PT for a while for you. It's going to be so nice to have this break!! Youtube has some upper body exercise if you feel like you can do it. Bands and weights.
@Dazlin good to see your post. So sorry about your parents. I lost my dad in a house fire 2 years ago and I'm not over it yet. Mom died almost 30 years ago.
I see posts about spring flowers popping up, and all I see is snow on my ground and it's deep!!
I haven't bought anything from the Q, I know it's free shipping but sometimes I get to impulsive.
@violet runner there are lots of good college games on today!
Have a good rest of your Saturday!

@bopper , also sorry for your loss...🩷.
As for your weather...hopefully spring comes soon and you'll see those little flowers poking through.
Do you walk around the lake, weather permitting? I think you said you live near? That must be nice!
I gave away all my indoor exercise equipment, a recumbent bike too. I'd rather walk the beach, or park.
For now, just walking my in development ...I have a bike, but I haven't ridden in awhile...im not sure I feel too comfortable on it anymore...its a mountain bike, I really loved it though...been thinking of getting a different type.
Then it gets soooooo hot here, I don't like being outside too much. I'll have to figure something out...I honestly don't feel very ambitious...always so much to do around the house...I know...no excuse.

@bopper - Thanks for the info re YouTube exercises. Will check them out when I look at the chair yoga videos. Figured I could do those ok.
