Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@Laura14 , thank you!

No, I have very high arches, it's like I walk on my heels and ball of foot.

Ive always done well with Sketchers,  but not anymore, for some reason.

Ill look into these brands, and thx for the tip on Kohls.

I had vionic slippers, I didn't like them, were heavy and clunky.  Didn't do good in their sandals either,  thats why I stick with Sketchers...I feel better  support with them, and they're light and bouncy ( sandals only), and have my size, 5 .

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@Dazlin Then you're the opposite of me. You can probably cross Brooks off your list. They are expensive so I only had them once, but the holy grail for most people with pronation issues. I forgot to add Mizuno is also one that was suggested to me, but I only know brands for the opposite issue.

I love Skechers too and do well with them. For hiking, I think I use my ASICs the most though.

Trying them on is the best way to go. I know my sister who does not have my issue and is a runner swears by her Nikes. Nikes do nothing for me so you may want to take a look there.

Good Luck!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Hello, sounds like a few of us are a little blue, me included.  Yesterday would have been dad's BD, 97.  The way he passed still haunts me.

We are getting a few flurries today, not to bad.   I didn't get the boots for ice (yet) they are so expensive.   It's tough!  The yaktrax and other stud things never stay on my boots, I have big feet and just wanted a regular boot with the studs built in.

@Dazlin my sister told me she had terrible heartburn the last 2 days, had to sleep in a chair it was that bad.  What the heck hey?

I have Hoka shoes I mostly use to walk, also have some New Balance Fresh Foam.   My feet are odd too, I always get a black 2nd toe nail.  The tops of the shoes press on my toe, and that's my longest toe...

I have a Hallmark movie on about a ranch!

This morning I did a Cara Fitness workout for the bum bum and holy moly my bum was on fire!!   Lots of glute lifts, I used a 25# dumbbell on my hips while lifting.  Then she did some donkey kicks, and leg lifts.  Did a good stretch afterward.

It's only 18 degrees here, I did see patches of blue sky.  My hip flexors are hurting so I avoided walking in the snow today.

Hang tough everyone, we all have struggles to work through, sometimes I just can't get into the Holidays at all.  I am sure you can relate.   But I love the faces of the littles!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper ...ill look for those brands...I remember you saying you liked a particular brand but I couldn't remember which. Like Laura said, I really have to go try some on.

My dad's birthday was Nov 28th...he passed 1 1/2 years ago, in April...he would have been 98 this year.  Then mom goes 2 months after him 🤦‍♀️...I was ok last year at holidays...for some reason I miss them this Christmas ( i squash the thoughts, cant go there)...mom loved Christmas and her house was always all decorated....she also bought every holiday dessert and candy, and liquors .  She said its only once a year and enjoy all the treats.

I have a pic of her and my dad making honey balls ( there's an Italian name) I can't find the spelling....she made them the year before she passed, both very active.

Ill make them this year.

You asked if I bake...I dont do much baking anymore...ill do some occasionally.

My oldest daughter loves baking, so she adopted my grandmother's traditional cookies, all Italian,  and those rainbow cookies.

My grandma didn't have any special equipment back in her day...everything was done by hand.  So when my daughter got her recipes...mind you, she has ALL MODERN EQUIPMENT,  she yelled about these crazy Italian women doing all this $%#@&* insane work, and im not allowed to repeat the language here @#%^^&*.   I was hysterical 🤣....but she continues to do it every holiday....and I have to say, she tops those delicious Italian bakeries i grew up with in Brooklyn.   Sooo funny story for ya.

She makes cannoli from scratch, and her own ricotta.   I dont have the patience.

I'd rather cook the food, ha.

Anyway...im feeling pretty good this afternoon.

I made chicken cutlets and a spinach salad.

Also since I dont like fruit...I made a BOOZIE BERRY dessert...no worries...its still healthy...strawberries,  blueberries, raspberries,  raisins, dark chocolate chips, and a few walnuts...I won't name the liquors, lol.

I'm not one for dessert,  good thing...but i should have some fruit.

Alrighty...really appreciate you guys helping me with foot, sneakers issues...im on it, and shall report back...I expect to complete a marathon!!!🏃‍♀️

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Power class complete. I was very strong tonight. Must be the meds. 🤣 I'll probably feel it tomorrow. 🏋🏻‍♀️

All of you are very lucky to have such wonderful close family memories. I have already planned my holidays as just me. I seem not to be invited to much this year so I have decided to move on and make my own plans. Maybe I won't spray the mushroom bisque all over the counter for Christmas like I did last week. 🤣👩🏻‍🍳

I have all of my presents to me. I am waiting on HSN to ship out my blanket and I have everything I ever wanted. @JudyL never should have told me QVC fixed their shipping issue. She cost me a lot of money. 😂

I am truly done with everything on my list. I will send my Bye Felicia letter to my now former auto insurer on the 16th and I am set for 2026. 👋

I had several people throw a lot of unexpected extra stuff at me this Fall and it's nice to have it all settled now and probably in a better place. I am going to catch up on a few personal things and move on.

First up, meal prep. I have nothing except my roasted almonds ready to go for lunch. I'll need to reacquaint myself with my pantry and get back on track.

Have a great evening all!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@Laura14  - If you lived closer, I'd invite you to have dinner with me, DD and her boyfriend.  You would get along so well with them!  We'd all have so much fun!

Had a good afternoon playing Mah Jong even though I didn't win any games.  Thats ok, I enjoyed being with my friends and thank goodness the drive to and from wasn't bad this week.  Ordered a pizza for dinner because I didn't feel like cooking anything once I got home.

Tomorrow morning at 10:00 I have an appt with my trainer.  Will check in later in the day.

Have a good evening!

@AngelPuppy1   sounds familar ( your eating habits) and that was one reason I want to explore the GLP-1 's . I asked my doc , but he didn't seem engaged enough to understand what I was telling him..  I did alot of exploring online about them and decided Zepound was what I wanted.. costly - so I am waiting for the price to come down and maybe seek out someone experienced in this. From what I have read these peptides do cut down the " chatter" in one's head about eating. And I have alot of that. I am also cautious about my age in all this- But then I look at Oprah, Kathy Bates, and  others  they had success.. To me it's just another tool in the arsenal.. It is frightfully hard to drop pounds for me.

Keep  sharing- sometimes this alone helps!

@violet runner

I am really afraid of those meds.  I have a lot of health issues and take quite a few meds, so I don't know how well all of those things would jell with those things.  Plus, yeah, the cost.  My doctor doesn't really think I am overweight.  She thinks I am within the limit for my age bracket.  However, I have gained weight since I retired and I am NOT at my desired weight!  I have heard that when you go on one of these meds that it cuts your desire down for food.  I wish there were something else you could take that did this!  Especially sweets!  Yes, I keep trying but I struggle.  Thanks!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@Dazlin  Hope your daughter improves and is healing.

I am HOKA's gal. Have several styles. Seem to work for me. As @Laura14  suggested Brooks and Asics also popular choices- just a matter of what works for your feet.

AND I too HATE Wrapping!  But that's what I did yesterday during our day of wintry weather. Think we ended up with twice as much snow as predicted and it was a heavy wet snow.  I got our patio shoveled- twice and out front once- The HOA shovelers came but not until 1pm.. And this morning it's black ice, crunchy frozen snow- I am not going to the rec center- at least not early- I have weights here and then maybe hit the track at the rec center later to walk. I dont' need to be falling down on ice.. We will warm up- and maybe 50's this weekend.. which I'll gladly take.

So I don't really know what I am doing today yet- let Mother Nature dictate. Right now I am sipping my coffee and listening to the wether channel..

@bopper  Go Lions tonight.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@Dazlin  and others. I said I had no issues with this thread, but came on here and missed several entries that have magically appeared.. Weird. So also forgive me if I don't mention something you wrote about.

Still bitter cold, but the sun is out!
