Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Good morning, everyone! Seems that everyone is well...I just read a few previous posts to get caught up.

So now the funeral of my brother is over! The death certificate could not get signed before the day of the funeral so my brother is STILL at the funeral home. The burial was rescheduled for next week. I had already decided not to go although I'd love to see the place. According to YouTube videos, it's lovely.....Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. It wasn't as sad as I thought it would be...during the wake, we shared stories about my brother.

I knew my ex husband was coming because my sons shared the arrangements with him after he asked. Since he and I were married 30 years, he did know him pretty well. But WHY did he come sit next to me during the wake?? I talked to him about five minutes and went to the bathroom. (My husband was under the weather that morning, so I was alone). After the bathroom escape, it was about time for the funeral service to start so I sat at the front where family was supposed to sit. After the end of the eulogy, I was in the hall and who makes a beeline for me? Chit chat again. Luckily, a cousin of mine that he grew up with starting talking to him. I exited stage left out the door and went home. I waved at family as I left. I don't think it's appropriate for ex spouses to act buddy buddy. He can't take a hint.

Ok....next week, I'm going to my fitness center. I need to know if I should keep my membership or not. I can exercise at home, I know but I loved the socializing that we did. Best of both worlds.

@Laura14, have you done keto? I know you've done intermittent fasting. I've never thought much about it but I think eating two meals within a four or five hour window and fasting the rest of the day until morning wouldn't be that difficult for me. Right now, my dinner is around 1 pm but I eat a piece of fruit around six. I think my problem has been too many carbs for breakfast and dinner. Bread and potatoes, two of my favorite things. Another problem cooking....not really into it like I used to be. Then there's cooking for my husband separately. I haven't had any Haagen Daz ice cream for about two months.....went on a detox, lol. A gallon of that stuff cost $18.99! That should have stopped me, lol. But addiction runs in my family. Instead of alcohol and street drugs, my drug is sugar, lol. I've been watching YouTube videos on keto food delivery services....pricy, though

.

Well...have a great day all.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@MmsfoxxieYou crack me up. Sorry you had a pest but nice of said pest to come and support a family he was a part of for a long time.

.

I do ketoflex. Essentially, I do almost no sugar and I also try to stay dairy, gluten, and grain free. That's very restrictive but there is a lot out now to give me pretty good workarounds. I do it because my genetic testing revealed I have the rarest of the rare fat genes and I should eat like a cavegirl because that's what I am genetically.

.

I sub unsweetened almond milk for dairy, use stevia in my tea, honey in lieu of any syrup, and cassava and almond flour for breads. In fact, I just made an Italian cassava loaf in my new dutch oven this morning. Best bread I ever did!

.

I am also a huge fan of olive oil which is what I roast my vegetables in (usually broccoli and sweet potatoes) and dress salads with. Olive and avocado should be the only oils you ever eat again. Check those labels! Monounsaturated only. I also use egg whites in lieu of eggs but that's because of my borderline cholesterol.

.

There is a brand called Siete which is in a lot of grocery stores now and Target which has taco shells and wraps and other items. I'd say they are a bit pricey but not anymore compared to everything else.

.

Simple Mills is another brand with crackers, baking mixes for pizza crusts, and rolls/bread that are quick and simple mix and bake for 15-20 minutes. They also have cookies but again beware the sugar but they are as clean as you can get a cookie to be.

.

Kite Hill, Vegan Valley cheese dips, and anything made with almond milk and no sugar are usually my dairy go tos.

.

Primal Kitchen makes great condiments and Skinnygirl has some good natural dressings. I find all of these in my local grocer.

.

For ice cream I use my Vitamix. I get the bag of overripe bananas from the grocer and peel and freeze the bananas. I take two out and throw them in and I mix with unsweetened cocoa and natural peanut butter for the kind I like. You can mix a frozen banana with anything and make it what you want.

.

My new guilty pleasure is hot cocoa. Heat almond milk in the microwave and add a packet of stevia, a teaspoon of unsweet cocoa, and a dash of vanilla. You can blend it if you want to make it frothy. I enjoy as is.

.

I don't do a lot of meat. Maybe some ground turkey once a month. Oh and I have switched to lentil and chickpea pastas. Don't tell my Italian ancestors.

.

Biggest key for me was to get off the sugar. The cravings really do stop. If you can do that, it's amazing how the rest falls into place. And watch the fruit. They are nature's sugar but berries and apples are not too bad.

.

Ketoflex is by Dr. Dale Bredesen. I am not entirely faithful to his version but I'm a loyal soldier most of the time. Be patient with yourself. Step down gradually. I used to give myself a pass on weekends and then gradually tightened ship. You can do it!

.

I do the 16 hour fasting and eat between 10am and 6pm most days which is usually a snack around 10-11am, lunch around 12-1pm, and dinner at 4-5pm. Whatever works for you.

.

Hope some of this helps. Bottom line: Just eat real food as much as you can and take a treat every once in a blue moon. If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. You'll find what works for you.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Hey all, I almost forgot to check in. This morning I did a 40 minute strength routine with Studio Sweat, and then 30 minutes lower body on the reformer and a doggie walk. Snow is on the ground now.

@Mmsfoxxieyour X's behavior seems odd to me. I'm glad you bolted out of there. My sincere condolences to you.

@Laura14will you come cook for me? I know it's the sugar and carbs making me heavy. I can't seem to get a grip. Losing my dad and the holidays I'm lucky I am still consistently working out.

I started to watch that Dolly Parton movie and she sure has had the work done. I didn't like it so deleted it.

Be well everyone!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Good Sunday morning, everybody!

@bopper, no, I need @Laura14 @to cook for me.....I'm claiming senior rights, lol. Laura, you have discipline that I've never had in the kitchen. I tend to seldom cook anymore except for my husband and usually eat the same food but less. The real healthy thing I do for both of us is airfry with a little oil. I do you avocado or olive oil, though. Stevia...I have a huge box of it stored in the garage. It's old so I probably need to throw it away. Didn't sweeten anything for me. So I sweeten with thee u healthy ones, aspartame and Sweet n Low. I use almond milk sometimes. I think with you living alone, it's easier to cook, not doing double work. These last few mornings, I'm helping to get rid of bagels that hubby bought cause he bought several packs. Last week was the first time he went shopping with me and I hope he doesn't go again anytime soon, lol. Four packages of bagels! No freezer space left for them. I've always had a tendency to try to eat foods that were starting to go close to their "best use" date. Hard for me to throw away food. Years ago, I did the Atkins diet several times. I always lost weight on it but it was too much meat and eggs. I know keto isn't similar but maybe not as much. I'm still investigating. I'll have something planned by January. I'm definitely going to do the pizza using low carb tortilla as a crust.

Well, I hope everyone has a blessed day and rest of the week.

@MmsfoxxieThat baby is adorable! What a sweet surprise. Heart

.

Not all Stevia is created equal. I find the brand Stevita to be quite sweet. If Stevia doesn't do it for you though, monkfruit is also recommended. I don't care it but it's also in the "good" column. Be careful of aspartame and SweetnLow. They actually trigger sugar cravings. Stevia and monkfruit do not.

.

As for cooking, I'd love to cook for both of you although I'm very basic. Nothing I do is too long or complicated. Really mixing and baking or tossing in olive oil and roasting. I buy precut frozen vegetables and actually started keeping a recipe book for quick and easy recipes I found, tried, and liked. I try to do most of my cooking on the weekends and meal prep since I work all week and don't have time during the weekdays. LocknLock is your friend.

.

Did healthy body yoga last night and fill your cup yoga this morning. Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

That's Jude, my latest grandchild, impulsively put on here, lol. My daughter in law puts them on fb everyday anyway. I just got this one. Started crawling this week....five months old, almost six.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Sunday! I was going to take a rest day but I just toned it down. 20 minute spin to Christmas spin workout, 30 minutes reformer stretch workout and a doggie walk.

@Mmsfoxxiesweet sweet baby!

@Laura14I guess I'm second in line for you to cook for me haha. What is your opinion on Truvia? Or Sugar in the Raw?

Dark here but had a beautiful sunset. It was 8 degrees this morning.

New week new attitudes right!

[ Edited ]

@boppercheck the ingredients and make sure it is truly stevia. Some stevia products still throw in dextrose which is sugar. As long as you are getting stevia only, it works for me. Reb A is stevia or sometimes they say stevia leaf extract.

.

Sugar in the raw I believe is sugar. Truvia I have personally never tried but I believe that is a stevia sweetner.

.

Adriene has a new routine out today so I may do that after work tonight. My new exercise routine is showing results. I look much better and I am down five pounds so took off the summer weight gain. Yay weight training. I think I am going to subscribe to Les Mills in January once I get my holiday shopping paid off. I really like their programs.

.

Got invited out by the family (shock) and went outlet shopping yesterday and found a cute new work outfit. I also found out that what I was most dreading at Christmas is not happening so I may be able to relax and enjoy my holidays now.

.

Off to start a new work week. Boo! Enjoy your Monday!
