@Mom2Dogs Welcome!
And just to add to DrKelli, weight bearing can just be body weight like squats and push ups which you can absolutely do against a wall or table. Dips for triceps on a couch or chair or anything that has you balancing or moving your body weight is also weight bearing if that's easier to do. Also yoga has a lot of power poses where you need nothing other than you.

@Laura14 @DrKelli Thanks so much for the tips....I wish I was a 'joiner'....I am not one to join a group for exercise...or anything for that manner, ha! I am finding as I get older I am more like my dad than I thought I was he was always a loner, much to the angst of my mom!
I used to do the power walk with L. Sansone (spelling)....I need to look for that DVD. I am hoping the rebounder will also help.
Sending well wishes and healing spirits to Dr Kelli...on your journey to improved health.

@Mom2Dogs I don't do the gym anymore for a variety of reasons so I am a lone exerciser now. If you have a smart tv (one that streams the internet) or a large tablet, I just turn youtube on, pick a workout and off I go every night. It works for me.

I am unintentionally currently doing cryotherapy by freezing to death for the past few hours. I hear it does fitness things. We'll see. The mini heater isn't working well.
Today I have an abs, arms, and attitude workout.
@bopper and @Mmsfoxxie I hope you are both doing better today. ![]()
Enjoy the final peaceful days before the craziness pops up next week y'all. ![]()

@Mom2Dogs Welcome to the group! I ditto what everyone said about strength training/using light weights, etc. I'm not a "joiner" either.
I have a treadmill, treadclimber, total gym, and a Pilates performer machine....enough to keep me busy. I've been doing Pilates and the rebounder lately for light cardio and strength training. What kind of rebounder do you have??
@Laura14 My husband's office was freezing and nearly everyone had heaters. The a.c. was constantly running. A heating guy came out....the culprit? A lady who's office had the main thermostat was using a heater. Her office was registering 96, and thus the problem. I said - was the lady embarrassed? No one has told her yet.....uh okay.
@Mmsfoxxie That's great that your grandson was dry for 1 night! A great start for positive reinforcement!!
Did Pilates and the rebounder this a.m. I have a chiro appt in a couple hours....hopefully he'll space my next appt out 2 weeks. Then my son and I are going out to dinner at our fave restaurant on the pier.

@MickD I wish I could live in 96 degree heat. LOL I hope they told her she could just turn it up so everyone could get some warmth.
Enjoy your dinner!

@Laura14 How can the problem be fixed if all these guys are afraid to tell her? Haha! She's just gonna whip out that heater again!

Hey hey, this morning I did about 40 mintues on the TG, still feeling crappy but keeping movement is right up there for me with medicne. I just have asthma when I get a cold so get the nagging asthma cough that lingers,,,,
Welcome @Mom2Dogs so nice to see you. I hope you enjoy our little family here! I love my reformer, both both, I rebound and use it for strength and it a different feeling, like I"m not sweating bullets like with TG but its a nice strength and balance workout for me too.
@DrKelli keep moving forward as I know you will!
@MickD You have a good gym set up there! I love my reformers, and TG, treadmill...I prefer walking outside though when at all possible
Waving to everyone else, I"m just not feeling it today, tomorrow hopefully better. Later kids!

@MickD Thank you for the warm welcome......What I call a 'rebounder' is a round, low to the floor piece of equipment that you jump on! There is also a tall handle to hold on to....not sure I need that but my husband thought I did!
When I googled exercises for osteoperois, it was recommended. I also have a recumbent bike, but I guess that is of no value to bone building, but I still use it regularly.
I am not overweight but would like to lose a few pounds, I hope to be down by 10-15 ish pounds by this time next year.....

Hi Everyone,
bopper- you are sending cold this way! Yesterday was snow then ice and tomorrow is gonna have a below zero wind chill. Thank you!
I thought of you- on TV they showed Michigan Mittens. Each mitten has a map; one of Michigan and the other of the Upper Peninsula. Pretty cool!
laura14- I think we all could use an attitude workout more often than not. I'm with you- I'll take 96 degrees any day!
mickD- boy, you have your own little private gym goin!g!
mmsfoxxie- hope all is going well.
drkelli- I can't get over how dedicated you are to your workouts between your busy job and medical road.
judyL- I am sure you got a little bit of a workout done!
momtodogs- I am the slacker of the group. I flunk workouts constantly! My friends here encourage each other and are motivating but I am more of a slug than mover! I get a Leslie or Firm dvd done once in a while with a thrown in walk here and there. So, you are already on your way. I'm trailing behind you!
Stay warm, stay cool, stay healthy!
tony
