I would consider taking a 'low-dose' B complex. That kind doesn't have the high amounts found in most B complex supps but instead contain B vitamins at or close to 100% of the RDA amounts.

@SilleeMee - thanks. That helps.  I'll look for them At CVS.  I take other Lessman vitamins and do well with them and that's why I ordered his, but it was too much for me.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Can you get the B Vit's you need through foods?  Or smaller doses of what you need the most of the B's?  Just a thought.

@Mz iMac   That's the kind of response (from your husband) I'd get here too.  They share that sense of humor I guess.  LOL

Off topic of Vit. B but regarding the mention of insomnia, I have found that a cup of hibiscus tea an hour before bedtime helps me to relax, fall asleep relatively quickly and sleep all night.  Celestial Seasonings raspberry zinger herbal tea has hibiscus in it and tastes better than just straight hibiscus tea but both seem to work just as well.  Lemon balm tea is also supposed to help but I haven't tried it yet.

Since B vitamins are water soluble, taking a massive amount makes your kidneys work harder.

Some brands ramp it up into the 1,000%, which is way too much.

Check around.

I have taken B complex in the past, but they tend to keep me up at night....(probably the B12). Can you try taking a much smaller dose earlier in the morning? I had to dose mine when I woke up and had them with breakfast. Otherwise I'd be up all night.

@Effie54 - thanks for responding. They're capsules and I just took one, so I can't lower the dose. And, I don't sleep as it is. I can't take anything that might keep me up. Anyway, so discouraging.

@gidgetgh  Likewise. I don't sleep well either. It's so frustrating. I've learned that I just cannot take some supplements because they don't agree with me. And so many others love them.....

Sorry to hear of your side effects from a product that you thought would help you. It was probably the b12 or niacin . You might want to discuss what your issue for taking the product in the first place was with your health care professional - maybe have blood work done on thyroid, vitamin D and B and iron levels etc . You  said that you are recovering from health issues  - please be patient with yourself .

Look at the ingredient stack on the label. Then add that stack to your other Lessman supplements to see just how much you are taking.

I quit taking complex formulas because if a single ingredient backfires, it's hard to find the culprit.

I still like the quality of GNC veggie caps.

@gidgetgh  Are the capsules the kind with a seam that can be pulled apart?  You could try dumping out half or even 2/3rds of the contents and see how you handle the remainder.  If it works for you there are empty capsules you could buy to save the emptied part for later use. Sounds like a pain, and it is, but it is just another idea I wanted to offer. The dosage from day to day won't be exact but again, just an idea as an experiment.

I agree to take with food.  I have had b complex cause nausea on an empty stomach.  B Complex tends to make me sleepy during the day.  But if I take it at night it seems to energize my mind just a tad, so I really dislike taking them at all, even though they can be beneficial.  I am still working out when and how much for me personally.

ETA: FWIW I don't have any nausea or sleepiness issues when taking Methylcobalamin (B12) or 5-MTHF (folate) alone on an empty stomach, so for "me" it is one of the other B vitamins having those effects.
